About Me

I read a lot. of anything. from a variety of sources. I just wish my memory was better.
I get grossed out by people who aren't interested in eating vegetables.
I prefer surrounding myself with those who strive to be better people by understanding the world around them.
I don't support war. because someone's everything can die as a "casualty" of it. I thought America was all about civility. And civility includes diplomacy and communication and respect. I don't think our leaders know what it means to be united, whether as states or as part of the world.
"A politician is a fellow who will lay down your life for his country."
- Texas Guinan, sassy speak-easy proprietor
To me, religion is one huge, fat Question Mark(?) Like war, it shouldn't be taken lightly if historically, it has ripped families apart, caused destruction across borders, and ramifications are not wholly understood. I believe in the inherent goodness of people, not the good that religion causes in people.
One of my friends said I am a perfectionist. I told her I couldn't possibly be because I am sloppy with this or that. She says, well, that's what a perfectionist thinks. I thought that was funny. I'll have to agree with that.
I am glad I never looked at magazine images (or other sources of imagery) and became enviously enraptured with another person's physical beauty. I think it was a certain mental preparation that bypassed that. At a young age, my nature and my goals wasn't to be prettier than other people.
I believe that ignorance is a choice.
I don't think most people realize how shitty they treat their body and expect their body to take it like a little bitch.
The person who invented the word "metrosexual" must feel so smug - for coming up with another "accurate" label in the world - this one causing men to feel self-concious about the importance of good grooming, because it ties with a bunch of other stupid labels that other ignorant people in the past came up with.
I realize I may quite possibly offend people with what I think and say. I shall hope that people won't take it so seriously, as I myself do not take my beliefs so seriously, otherwise I would be one seriously depressed little lady. For serious.
One of my goals in life is to visit every country in the world. Passing thru or airport layovers do not count.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Adventurers. Respectful adventurers.
I'm not a big fan of missionaries. They mean well, but they also expect conversion in return for their kindness. Don't tell me they won't be disappointed if they didn't get a convert for their overseas efforts. With hands together, they privately ask for it. There are a lot of cultures that disappear and become religiously homogenized as a result. I say this because I grew up Christian and was spoon-fed my values as a child. I prefer to understand my values independently and to be open to many influences - I don't want to be "saved" from forming my own opinions. I'd rather live by a philosophy than a religion.
