Celebrated duos like Eric B and Rakim, Gangstarr (Guru and DJ Premier), Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth, and even DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince all saw their musical partnerships as a foundation, not a steppingstone to something more lucrative.
