About Me
Hailing from Springfield, Massachusetts, Young Cee is a producer of prodigal proportions at the age of 20. Taking a step ahead of the future generation, Cee plans to excel to excellence with influence from J Dilla, Illmind, and Nottz. Born in Springfield, MA on Sept. 29th, 1986, Young Cee grew up with his mother, sister and grandmother. Throughout his early youth, his family were avid churchgoers in which he would follow suite and grow to discover music through his local church. Soon, his tastes would become more versatile after being introduced to Hip Hop by a close relative. After moving to Connecticut at the age of 11, Cee discovered Hip Hop through his Uncle Keith after playing him production from his distant cousin who happened to be legendary producer, J Dilla. Following his discovery, he would listen to the radio to get his fix of Hip Hop but would soon grow to form a criticism on what he was hearing and had an urge to think of corrections he would make to certain songs. As time passed, creativity set in and Cee wanted to become a producer in hopes to get his beats in the right hands to have the industry up in arms. At the age of 15, Cee received a valuable piece of equipment from his Grandma during Christmas, a Zoom 323 which would be his first production tool. However, Young Cee didn't start out making Hip Hop beats, it was drum and bass that fueled his ambition for beat making. After developing enough beats to make a reel, Cee showcased his beats to family and peers and garnered up a good response which inspired him to step it up a notch. After discovering how to sample, he no longer used the Zoom 323, he advanced to Magix computer software and a Casio workstation which allowed him to incorporate keys into his production which he would lay over samples and drum loops in Magix which would eventually be replaced with Fruity Loops. In 2005, Cee experienced a big turning point in his life while attending a Beat Society event in NYC in which Nottz, Da Beatminerz, Khrysis, and Rik Marvel would be showcasing beats. After coming home the next day from Beat Society, his beat arrangement was altered by structuring his works in to a industry standard song format and months after making his first creation, Sean Boog (of the Away Team/Justus League) picked one of the newcomer's tracks which was Cee's first placement and would turn out to be a song titled "Head To Toe" from his mixtape "The Great Adventures Of Sean Wayne." Shortly after, Cee chefed up more creations for the Justus League after landing "Knock, Knock" on Little Brother and DJ Drama's mixtape "Seperate But Equal" which garnered him respect from the underground to independent A&R's. As soon as 2006 hit, the world still wasn't safe as Cee gained another album credit after placing the track "Nothing But Time" on Kenn Starr's critically acclaimed Starr Status and also scored a track for buzz worthy NYC rapper, Skyzoo. Young Cee is looking to expand his credentials. Fresh off placing the track "Cant Stop Us" on Little Brother and Mick Boogie's mixtape "And Justus For All", Cee has upcoming work on projects from Boston staples Special Teamz' (Edo.G, Slaine, and Jaysaun), EA Sports' NBA Street 4, Hip Hop legend, Shabazz Tha Disciple, his group, Kemistree (Gut, Ohzee, G-Wiz, Origimoz, and Hassaan Mackey), a collaborative album with Barak Yalad coming out on Rawkus Records and Rochester, NY MC, Hassaan Mackey. With drive and determination, Young Cee is destined to be a problem in the industry.
