There was a river that looked determined and thoughtful so I dream't big for a minute or years and followed it's circles all the way to the very tangly start of itself. (all the while being a believer, and a stout one at that) There were crashes and smashes upon the way, be sure that of, but believers aint no quitters. (andit wontbe toolong tillI reachA higherGround)Wait. {for a minute there i lost myself}Nowadays I lean back and wait and no more shall a believer be I. The river flows still, it always will (one imagines) but i know it's start/end now so I just swim the middle on hot days sometimes.I have machines and such now and sometimes strangers sing for them and we save that up and airwave it or sell sell sell at the big rock (folk) show. Sometimes I meet believers and I say "this is where the river goes to" but they pshaw that mostpartly (being believers still). // they should...i have no proof of knowledge. mostly.I have an acting job or two where I play a believer and try to convert them by the roomful. I save a few or more almost every time out still, - but I ain't no Jim Jones anymore.Mostly I just sit back on this bank of sand and watch the River flow with Robert Zimmerman's talking books painting rainbows over my crooked thoughts.
