About Me
Born in San Diego, California, Michelle has spent much of her life growing up in Belgium, Germany as well as Canada and now resides in Vancouver, British Columbia. From a very early age, she began to hide out in her room and sing to her dad’s very eclectic and diverse collection of 8 track cassettes. On her 14th birthday, she was given her first guitar. From that point on, Michelle has been honing her musical abilities, has travelled exstensively with her guitar, playing with many talented musicians where ever she goes, which has made her the musician she is today. At age 18, Michelle, collaborated with Gino Vanelli’s guitar player in Montreal, and cowrote a song in French, Aime Moi, which was sent to the European label Polygram Records(Vanessa Paridis) and it was received with great accolades. She was poised to launch her career in Europe and her career seemed to be off to a great start. Unfortunately, due to some unfortunate politics with her producer, Michelle decided to let this opportunity be just a learning experience and strike off on her own to maintain artistic control over her career and her art.In 1999, Michelle went into studio and financed the recording of her first demo, and released Bring Me Back To You. She was one of the first artists to have her music played on MP3.com, which was to be the first online independent music website, and which launched the MP3 revolution. Her song quickly rose to the charts, and she again received recognition and accolades for her work. She was invited to perform alongside the Goo Goo Dolls for a concert that was to promote MP3.com that year. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, Michelle was unable to participate, and later that year, MP3.com closed its doors due to Industry shifts. At the end of 1999, Michelle decided to head to Vancouver, and find new inspiration out west. She recorded with Jay Knutson of Spirit of The West, played with Laura Doyle and began working on all new material. Having spent the last few years writing her best material to date, she has been in preproduction for her album, working with bass player Phil Addington from the highly accomplished Canadian band, Swank. Having just returned from Nashville, Michelle is now currently recording and coproducing with magician producer Sam Ryan of SOS Studios, Hoping to release her full length album in the summer of 2009. she will have uber talented players, Chris Gestrin, and Jesse Zubot grace her album, as well as many others.
