Fake DJ aka Joe Asbridge is one of the freshest up and coming DJs in Manchester. He is technically astute and his skills are clearly visible for all to see with intense displays across 3 decks incorporating many forms of underground house and techno.
One thing that Joe has is talent, and he has that with abundance. Not confined to a set mould Joe is a DJ that thinks outside the box showcasing his precocious talents blending minimal, melodic and tribal forms of techno which ignite dance floors from start to finish. Often you will hear velocious mixing constantly layering tracks over one another creating new unique re-edits. Double dropping his way through bass lines, Joe likes to create an epic energy fuelled journey of underground music.
Trying to pigeon hole Joe’s sound specifically is nigh on impossible. In his own words he plays “Good underground musicâ€. Of course this is still inconclusive but it adds to the anticipation often felt before a Fake DJ set. You never know what to expect and don’t be surprised to have your musical senses educated. You will be schooled in many sub genres of techno and house effortlessly which is a true sign of his talent and versatility. Behind the decks Joe is a hive of activity often seen buzzing around the EQ’s and effects constantly adjusting various aspects of his set to entice the crowd into an eruption that his tailored sets deserve.
2007 has been a good year for Joe making his debut for Tribal Sessions finishing off in the main room after Pete Tong. Off the back of this scintillating performance Joe earned more appearances at Tribal Sessions as well as gigs elsewhere across the north west of England. His hugely acclaimed April promo received its just reward winning the IDJ Raw Talent competition. His July promo was a live recording from a gig earlier this year where he warmed up for Marco Corola. His latest Session3 promo is a blend of tribal, melodic and driving techno showcasing his unique locker of talent. All 3 mixes can be obtained from the download’s section.
Having recently moved into a new studio in Beehive Mill above the legendary Sankeys nightclub in Manchester, 2007 looks set to be another successful year for Fake DJ. Look out for more dates across the North West as well as some hot studio offerings soon!
