I've played drums for over 15 years now and in the last little while I have been honing my guitar and piano skills to help further advance my productions. Overtime, I've been fortunate to have been able to build my own recording studio which has allowed me to spend alot more time and effort on producing my music working day in, day out. My next piece of equipment I plan to purchase is an expresso machine for those late nights and tight deadlines. I find it pretty hard trying to edit tracks with only eye open.My pops was a part of a 60's British band from Manchester England named 'The Pieces' and was fortunate to have been able to share the stage with prefamed artists such as The Beatles, Rod Stewart, The Rolling Stones and many more back in his hayday. Today, my dad still records music using his trusty Apple Garage Band set-up, taking his laptop wherever he goes and laying ideas down whenever and wherever. Music has always been a part of my life since I was pretty much born. I still sometimes listen to vintage demo recordings of my pop's, where he'd let me sit in with him on some of his sessions. I could hear myself clapping and singin' at the end of some of his takes. I used to take my pop's banjo and play the the skin with pencils like a snare drum. Since I was a toddler, I new that one day I would be able to play on the big drums and eventually I did and was hooked ever since. In this new day and age, technology has made it possible to recreate the sounds of the old but I still sometimes put down my samplers and drum machines and mic up my drums and guitar for laying down live tracks. I would use different techniques like layering a live kick with a 808 kick for that extra punch or playin the bass live over my synths for an extra attack feel of a real strummed instrument. If I was ever to go somewhere where I could only have one item with me. I'd take the guitar over the mpc to make my Bassmentbeats, anyday.Take care, eat, drink, and be merry!!
