About Me

A brief bio.Hi. My name is Dean. Some people like calling me Deano. I have been and will be many things. Here's my life story. I was born in New Jersey. As soon as I was old enough to realize where I was, I got out of there and came to New York City.I attended various prep schools and went to college, majoring in English Lit. My first job was in a library; my second job was in a bookstore. Then I became a sales manager at "The World's Largest Store." Quickly, I knew that I wasn't cut out for a career in retail sales, and I left there to attend Clown College. After Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey kicked me to the curb, I became an announcer for "976" telephone messages, like the weather, back when people used the telephone for that kind of info. This later expanded to include hundreds of messages of all sorts for dozens of cities across the United States.Remarkably, the retailer I ditched invited me back to work on its famous "Thanksgiving Day Parade," and I became, first a make-up artist for the clowns, then Crew Chief for all make-up artists, and then Clown Coordinator for all of the clowns in the parade.Meanwhile, FAO Schwarz, the famed Fifth Avenue toy shop, requested me to be their official clown performer. I entertained celebrities, royalty, and millions from all over the world! After that, I became a club Disc Jockey, playing in places like Polly-Esthers, Decade, Culture Club and T.J. Whitney's. "The Collection" of music I own is massive and as far as Billboard Top 40 pop hits, may be the most complete you'll ever find. Need a hit song from the 60s to now? I likely have it... but I'm always searching for some myself!Since then, I have written a book, done a bunch of freelance writing assignments, and am working on several writing projects. What's next? I can't wait to find out!

My Interests

Pop culture, history, writing, music, the earth, travel, people, comedy, film, baseball, and I know I'm forgetting 2 or 3 hundred other things... I have a lot of interests.

I'd like to meet:

You!

Music:

I'm a DJ. I own pretty much every pop hit from the 1960s on.I listen to pretty much everything (INCLUDING Country!) so, try me.

Movies:

Yes. Many, many movies.

Television:

I watch TV. The "Don't miss" shows I have are "24," and "Lost" (yes, even after The Sucking Point) I also enjoy "30 Rock" (even with that brutal loon, Alec Baldwin), and "Shark" and "House" (kind of the same show only with Law and Medicine as their separate motifs).Pop culture!

Books:

Ok, there are a lot of good writers out there that have written some very good books. There are far too many writers to properly list here, without diminishing their greatness. So, I won't do that. However, if you want to talk writers and books, we can do that when we converse.

Heroes:

Many.
