. new people who are interested in me, and don't mind spending some conversation to find out if they enjoy me before us engaging in sweet friendling
However, i am not:
. interested in being a part of your (lovely) band's
marketing scheme, i'm in it for the lovely people
. interested in romantic suggestions, i'm in a wonderful 10+ years relationship
. as strict as i may seem. promise.
to clarify, i only "friend" people i know - be it .. or in real life, or if we find ourselves having fabulous and plentiful conversations here on MySpace or elsewhere. i've gotten to know and had the pleasure of meeting some amazing people via this site. for me, the concept of friendship includes some kind of personal connection, and i would feel disrespectful towards my real friends
if i bunch them in under the same epithet as complete strangers. if you are my friend, be sure i value it. and if i have had any kind of contact with you previously, chat me up if i haven't added you and you would like that, as i am having a hard time finding you all in this here vast webscape.
if i don't know you, and your first message to me includes you saying you want to add me or asking why you couldn't, then i assume you haven't taken the time to read this text and aren't interested in getting to know me, in which case i couldn't in good conscience call you a friend. sorry to drag on about this, i just find this interpretation of friendship a little foreign and impersonal, and i feel bad about having to turn people down when they are sweet to me but ask me for something which to me feels kind of intimate, when we don't know eachother. call me oldfashioned ;)
