About Me

____________________________________________________________ _______________________________________ Welcome to my website, who am I, well I am Andy Cunningham as self taught photographer, who took up photography after suffering a serious industrial accident, that left me with spinal injuries and nerve damage, and as a result I had to accept early retirement. It was then after spending 20 years in London that I decided to return to my native Scotland and the West coast in particular. As part of my physiotherapy I had to go for long walks every day and it was then that I began to rediscover the beauty that is Scotland, so began my love affair with photography. ____________________________________________________________ ______________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ______________________________________ During those years back home, I soon gained a reputation for my work, and within the first six months of my taking up photography, I began exhibiting in a local tea shop on the shore front, then within a year I had my first major exhibition. Since then I have exhibited both here in London and in Scotland, however I no longer exhibit due to the financial costs involved, I once had my work on show in seven different places at the same time. ____________________________________________________________ _____________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ _________________________________________ After experimenting with various websites I decided that MySpace was where I wanted to be, it was then that I decided to expand my website to include artists from the music industry, knowing how hard it is to get established. This came about as a result of me spending six years on the road in the sixties, managing and promoting bands in my native Scotland. ____________________________________________________________ _________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ _________________________________________During the last few months and in particular the last few weeks I have decided to expand my site to feature those who are artistic and creatively minded. To that end I now not only include artists from both the music and film industry, including club and radio DJ..s, film directors and record producers, but also authors etc,. ____________________________________________________________ ________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________I also think it is important to remember those artists from the past, which have given us so much pleasure and in turn paved the way for the artists of today. The one thing that never ceases to amaze me is the amount of talent and skill that exists among the artists of today. ____________________________________________________________ ________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ________________________________________It is not my policy to promote one artist over another, but to let you decide for yourself, what you like, and for the artist to promote themselves. You will see that there are artists from all genres of music, film etc from around the world and to make it easier for people visiting the site I have reintroduced the category system.I also think it is important to give everyone a platform, a voice (if you like) to promote themselves, an opportunity to see, and be seen and who knows where it might lead. My Interests

____________________________________________________________ ________________ I suppose I am really a facilitator, as I have spent the best part of my life bringing people together. Up until December last year I was a very well known campaign and community leader here in South London, with I am proud to say, a record second to none. Fighting on many local issues such as housing, estate security etc. Over the last thirty two years I hardly ever lost a issue or a campaign. ____________________________________________________________ ________________ ____________________________________________________________ ________________I then set up what became known as Art-XB..s, whereby I promoted the work of local artists/painters, by arranging for them to exhibit there work in five different restaurants on a rota basis. At one time there were over fifty registered members.Likewise I organized a auction through a local restaurant to raise money for a children's hospital, with many local companies offering there services, or goods towards the event. ____________________________________________________________ ________________ ____________________________________________________________ ________________I also ran the successful press and publicity campaign for a group, that helped to save the famous Children..s Zoo in Battersea Park here in London from closing. Which was supported not only by the public, but by over a thousand local businesses, I have never before been involved in such an emotive campaign. It was such an embarrassment to the local Council, that they had to concede defeat within six weeks of the campaign starting, such was the public outcry. ____________________________________________________________ ___________ ___ ____________________________________________________________ ________________So as you can see I have spent most of my time bringing people together and that is why enjoy managing this site. ____________________________________________________________ _________________ ____________________________________________________________ _________________

I'd like to meet:

I aways like meeting and working with people who are artistic, creative and committed and above all ambitious to achieve, regardless of age. Although I do like helping young people, and when asked to give them advice and the benefit of my experience.Meeting new people and experiencing new things are the spice of life, and I am always optimistic with every new day with who you might meet or indeed what might happen.Which is why I like running this website, I get to meet so many talented and creative people.

Heroes:

Heroes do not have to be well known, but they are people who have helped to change the lives of others for the better. People who do it because they want too and do not ask for anything in return, or people who have had to deal with there own personal battles, but are still smile through them. ____________________________________________________________ _________________ ____________________________________________________________ _________________ I have met many such people throughout the years, and for a number of years I was a judge, and latterly presented awards at a local heroes competition run by a newspaper here in London, called The South London Press. I can tell you it is quite an emotive night, when you listen to what they have done, and the courage they have shown when faced with adversity. As Hannah Walker the editor of the newspaper has said and is always saying, quite rightly,they are the true hero's. ____________________________________________________________ _________________
