Singer/songwriter Lina Koutrakos is a timeless Diva. She is a sophisticated rocker with a heart full of soul. Lina sings with amazing spirit, extraordinary energy, and perhaps most exciting of all, a brave celebration of all kinds of passion!
Koutrakos is no lightweight and together with her powerful band they weave their way from world pop through southern rock to gospel blues in a musical tapestry that has played to rave reviews in most of the top venues throughout Manhattan. Lina has been featured in The New York Times and the industry's Bible: BILLBOARD MAGAZINE just to name a few. The band has garnered fans the likes of Meryl Streep, Kathleen Turner, Tom Hanks and the late Gregory Hines.
Koutrakos's unique, emotive voice was featured in the critically acclaimed America Undercover HBO documentary “Telling Nicholas”. She wraps up this moving 9/11 film with her own sensitive and flawless rendition of its heartrending closing theme song.
Koutrakos's hauntingly sentimental duet “For Now” (a collaborative effort with D.Gross and J. Rodgers) was given a Certificate of Merit from
American Songwriter Magazine this past year. And her anthemic "Love Grows Here" (written with drummer D. Gross and guitarist J.P Perreaux) has been sung by New Yorks Gay Mens Chorus in NY, at the Tokyo Olympic Center in Japan with 200 kids!, on the Rosie O'Donnell Family Cruises and was sung in honor of Family Pride in NY city last month. Along with her new award she has won the Village Voice Award for one of its Best Rockers, and France’s prestigious Petite Piaf Award all for Best Female Vocalist.
Koutrakos takes center stage with a command and presence reminiscent of many rock and roll legends but there's nothing "old fashioned" about this grown women with something to say and chops to give you goosebumps while she's sayin it! Sexy, sophisticated, smoky and slammin...this is the real thing.
