Linking his classical training and his rock-pop chops, Greg writes small-ensemble and orchestral pieces, scores film and dramatic work, and arranges for recording artists such as Hem, Michael Stipe, James Iha and Carly Simon. He brings to each project an understanding of character and drama along with a broad musical expertise and strong collaborative skills. He performs as a piano/keyboardist with various singers, and is conductor of the Gowanus Radio Orchestra.
Greg’s music is excellent: ethereal, mesmerizing, intensely dramatic, and unlike any other music I know. He has ranged from quiet, lyric musings to the most elegantly harmonic vocal sounds. He is eclectic with power in many forms, flexible, intuitive, and capable of finding just the right music to complement even the most idiosyncratic vision. He brings a keen intelligence and a deep heart to every decision. (Matthew Maguire, director & writer)
I’ve never worked with another arranger who was more in tune with a band’s artistic vision. Not only was he able to realize the far-flung musical goals we set for ourselves, but he always took us one step further than we could have imagined. He understood what we were aiming for, and he was able to express that aim beyond our wildest expectations. (Dan Messe of Hem)
