About Me

My Interests

My First Decade. The 1980s are often referred to as the "yuppie decade" the beginning of the “Political Correctness Era” being a major concern in the mainstream politics nowadays. In the same way, this was a decade marked by excessive confusion and chaos. The Cold War was rushing down, Germany was reunited by mistake. The Reagan Administration’s decision of supporting the Islamic Fundamentalists during the Afghani would have catastrophic effects later in history. The Iran-Iraq War, the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident in Ukraine, and the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion were among those historical events that changed somehow my life. HIV/AIDS was discovered and began to proliferate. Years later the USSR with Mikhail Gorbachev began the “new openness”/perestroika and glasnost. John Lennon was assassinated on December 8, 1980 in New York City. The infamous “crack cocaine” epidemic hit the largest urban areas in the U.S. Among some of the most catastrophic natural disasters I remember: The 1982–1983 “El Nino” brought destructive weather to most of the world; the 1985 Mexico earthquake registered 8.1 on the Richter scale and devastated Mexico City and other areas throughout central Mexico: The 1985 Nevado del Ruiz mudslide in Colombia (Tragedia de Armero) The 1986 Lake Nyos toxic cloud in Cameroon, which released toxic gasses and killed nearby inhabitants. “In August 1984, Lake Monoun released a cloud of carbon dioxide that asphyxiated 37 people. Two years later, a large cloud erupted from Lake Nyos in an 80-metre fountain. The gas, which is heavier than air, rolled down two nearby valleys, suffocating 1,700 people.” and the 1988 Armenian earthquake rocked the Caucasus region of the USSR. I lived in the time of the: Tiananmen Square Protest of 1989: The Czechoslovak velvet revolution, and the overthrow of the dictatorial regime in Romania and other communist Warsaw Pact states in Central and Eastern Europe. On January 28th, 1986 Kennedy Space Center (Cape Canaveral, FL) the space shuttle “Challenger”; exploded on ascent, killing all the seven crew members. Still Remember the Chernobyl Nuclear Power disaster on April 26th, 1986 The worst nuclear accident in history at one of the Soviet Union's main nuclear power plants. When the reactor exploited carcinogenic radioactive elements flew into the air. Due to the Chernobyl’s catastrophe Belarus’ land will not be reusable at least for the next 300 years and affected all Ukraine’s territory.Iran-Contra Scandal: Iran-Contra Scandal in which the Reagan Administration was accused of selling and trading arms with Iran. Somewhere in November 1986 or probably before, Ronald Reagan in charge of The United States, proposed to exchange arms with Iran (which was in the midst of a fierce war with its neighbor, Iraq) for the release of American Hostages in Lebanon. “Members of the Reagan Administration claim they believed that by selling arms to Iran, Iran would influence the Hezbollah kidnappers in Lebanon to release their hostages.” The profits from the arms selling went to the contras, which were an anti-communist group in Nicaragua and other Central American countries. November 9-10, 1989. The Fall of the Berlin Wall (44 years after the end of WWII) was a historical misunderstanding: G?nter Schabowski announced on live German TV that all restrictions had been lifted. In matter of minutes people rushed to the wall. “"Bornholmer Strasse" was the first check point of the "DDR" that opened its gates to the West on 9th of November 1989”. Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan On December 24, 1979, the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan. This was a long-lasting war (From 1979 until 1989). The Soviets had no other reason to attack the Afghanis besides gaining control of their unstable territory and expel the Islamic fundamentalist from those areas of control. The U.S supported the Islamic terrorist to deter the Soviet intervention, but everybody already knows the fatidic consequences of this presidential decision.
