SILVERDONSinger, MC, SoloistStyle: Reggae and DancehallOne of the Reggae and Dancehall pioneers in Israel, to date he has released 4 albums. He has performed in festivals worldwide, from Jamaica to Japan. In 1990 Silverdon visited Jamaica for the first time, studied the local dialect and began to conquer the local clubs and dance floors in Kingston and Spanish Town. In 1991 he released 2 singles on the local Jamaican market, one of which "Hebrew Patterns" received wide attention and as a result he received an offer from the well known Jamaican producer "Steelie" to join his record label: "Steelie & Cleavy".Silverdon’s first album called simply "Silverdon 1" was released in 1994 and included the songs "Try" and "Salama ya salama" as well as innovative performances of the Israeli Yeminite hit "In Ninalu" (made famous by the late Ofra Haza) and "Yoh Yah" previously a big hit for the Israeli group Kaveret. He gained recognition in Jamaica, Japan, Germany, and Switzerland and became very popular with the Reggae community in Israel. Two years later Silverdon went to the States to work on his second album, produced by Carl James and Don Davidson, who also worked with Maria Carey, Roberta Flack and others. His second album "Silverdon2" was released in 1997 and was influenced by Rhythm and Blues. It included collaborations with artists such as Lisa Fisher (who won a double Grammy). From this album the hit "Celebration" was released as a single by Sony Global. After countless appearances and experiences Silverdon began to miss his roots and country which can be seen in his third album which was released in 2000, and was considered at that time to be an innovative attempt to find the common ground between Reggae and ethnic music. Silverdon collaborated on the album with Israel hip hop stars such as Nimrod Reshef and the Great Fishy. The musical producer was Yovav Shalit. This album received exposure on the Israeli radio stations despite its different musical style, with hits such as "My Princess". "The bomb" (together with Nimmy Nim) and "Israel" (together with the Great Fishy).Silverdon’s fourth album "The Man and the Animal" which was released in 2006 is nothing like anything previously released under the heading "Israeli Reggae". The album was released under the label NMC and produced by the best artists of black music in Israel: Chulo, Magic, Piloni and Assi Ayalon. On this album Silverdon hosted Shannon Street, Dori Ben Ze’ev and Nimrod Reshef. You can find all of Silverdon’s music on vinyls and CDs.
