About Me
Flav Giorgini has been playing in punk bands since 1984, when he, along with brother Mass (Screeching Weasel, Common Rider), formed Rattail Grenadier in Lafayette, IN (USA). Dan Lumley (Screeching Weasel, Common Rider, The Mopes, The Riverdales) joined them on drums in 1985, and they released their first album in 1986. Rattail Grenadier played many shows throughout the Midwest, South, and East Coast of the US during their tenure on the punk scene. During this time they played with Henry Rollins, Naked Raygun, Zero Boys, Toxic Reasons, Dag Nasty, Screeching Weasel, Material Issue, Screaming Trees, Buzzoven, Operation Ivy, and many more. They disbanded in 1993 after an additional 2 releases, including their classic self-titled release on the Chicago label Roadkill Records in 1988. Along with friend Matt Hart (Freaks of Nature) on vocals, Flav, Mass, and Dan formed Squirtgun in 1994. Squirtgun released 4 CDs on Lookout! Records, 1 on Honest Don's, and a split CD with Teen Idols on Asian Man Records. Squirtgun's self titled debut on Lookout! Records featured guest vocals from Mike Dirnt (Green Day). Squirtgun toured both the US and Europe extensively. During this time together, Squirtgun played or toured with the Suicide Machines, Blink-182, NOFX, Less Than Jake, L7, The Ataris, The Queers, Mr. T Experience, Bouncing Souls, The Donnas, Anti-Flag, Guitar Wolf, Blonde Redhead, the Methadones, 88 Fingers Louie, The Parasites, Even In Blackouts, Beatnik Termites, Vanilla Pod, Captain Everything, Jesse James, De La Soul, and many others. The amazing Zac Damon (Zoinks, Big In Japan) was also a member of Squirtgun during much of this time. Squirtgun is perhaps best known for the song "Social" featured during the opening credits of Kevin Smith's cult classic movie "Mallrats". Dan Lumley left the band in 2003 and was replaced by Mike Felumlee (Alkaline Trio, Smoking Popes) that same year. From 1999-2003 Flav ran the online guitar store Guitarpunk.com, which allowed him to work with Johnny Ramone, Matt Skiba & Dan Andriano (Alkaline Trio), Jesse Michaels (Operation Ivy), Ben Weasel (Screeching Weasel), Joe Principe (Rise Against), Joe Queer (The Queers), Tim Allister (Allister), and Zach Blair (GWAR). From 1999-2003 Flav also fronted the Seattle-based, punk'n'roll band the Simians. The Simians included Mike Soldano (Soldano Custom Amplification) on guitar. During their time together, the Simians played with the Queers, Duff McKagan (Guns N' Roses), the Explosion, Mudhoney, Schoolyard Heroes, Sleater-Kinney, Pretty Girls Make Graves, and many others. Flav has been performing solo acoustic punk shows since 2004, including gigs with Mike Park (Skankin' Pickle), Nick Oliveri (Queens of the Stone Age), Chris Murray, Blag Dahlia (the Dwarves), Even In Blackouts, Stza Crack (Leftover Crack), Vic Ruggiero (The Slackers), Jim Sorrow (Freaks Union), Jonny One Lung (The Filaments), and others. As of 2006, Flav is based in Leicester, England (UK). 2007 has seen Flav join the two-man acoustic act Escapegoat with Team Dave Wright and the electric 3-piece band Sinister '66 with Mac (Travis Cut, The Neurotics) and Paul (Skabilly Rebels, The Tone). Sinister '66 has been storming the UK, and has thus far played with Mike Park, The Creepshow, Love and a .45, Sundowner, the Zatopeks, Spookey, the Hotlines, the Pursuit, Howard's Alias, Shitty Limits, and many others.
