Scoot Down. Well, Scoot came up with the name after his rock band decided to go their seperate ways. He had gone by that nickname for 14 years and, after deciding to go solo, settled on simply being known as.. Scoot. Unfortunately the poor fellow found out the artist name "Scoot" was already spoken for, so he decided to add "Down" to the end of it, and started writing songs... mainly reggae songs. Scoot was, and still is, a huge fan of Long Beach, California rock/reggae party explosion, Sublime. Like the late singer Bradley Nowell, Scoot was also a huge fan of the work of reggae icon Robert Nesta (Bob) Marley. After being in a rock band, he wanted to try writing and experimenting with other genres. Since reggae music was merely an extension of his heart and soul, Scoot started writing soft, subtle reggae songs that closely resemble the old reggae style. A few years ago, well closer to six or seven, Scoot wrote an original reggae song with longtime friend and fellow musician Jason Lindley . Scoot wrote the lyrics and the bassline, and Jason took care of the rest. T.J. Keith and Wyman Balcom both have contributed their work to the drum sections. Scoot sat down and began writing original reggae songs by himself, when he remembered writing the song with Lindley. He invited Jason to play in the band, along with newcomer Gene Wyatt a.k.a. "Geno". Erik Lollar joined the band around this time as well. Unfortunately, Geno has decided to leave the band to attend college. We wish him the best of luck and much success with his career. We are now in the studio, writing and recording fresh new tracks, as well as one that will be highly recognizable to the local crowd. We are getting a nice setlist together right now, and we're getting ready to make this thing very public. We want 2007 to be a big year for Scoot Down, and many already believe that it will.
