OFFERING FULL-SPECTRUM INTERNATIONAL PROMOTIONto create media buzz... And to arrange and assist with bookings, airplay, label negotion, distribution management, licensing issues, wire services, interviews, video production, merchandising, endorsements, and marketing to all genre-appropriate avenues to maximise your success as an artist.
I started out in television with WNET/13 Public TV in New York City... Then on to Hollywood with Norman Lear at Metromedia Studios. Then to music with John Lennon.
A brief synopsis of my promotion of music:
My incorporated PR/Publicity Firm was called Low Key Enterprises, Inc. I was CEO & Director. This was established right after working as Publicist for John Lennon & Yoko Ono on Double Fantasy.
My subsequent clients included The Channel Club (the largest rock club in Boston for quite a while) and handling regional advertising/publicity/radio/tv/print media interviews, and including many artists - to name a few- John Mellencamp, Evan Dando & The Lemonheads, The Band (formerly backing Bob Dylan, but became stars in their own right, esp. commemorated in the major motion picture "The Last Waltz", directed by Martin Scorsese), The New Riders of the Purple Sage (members included musicians from The Grateful Dead), Paul Weller & his band, The Jam, Robert Palmer, Mission of Burma, Nervous Eaters, Little Feat (formerly backing Robert Palmer, but became a major act on their own), Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen, Til Tuesday, featuring Amiie Mann, Wendy O and The Plasmatics, The Specials, Squeeze, UB40, Beebe Buell, Madness, Bob Marley, Aerosmith, Steel Pulse, Gang of Five, Human Sexual Response, Joy Division, Duran Duran, The Rings, Elvis Costello, Shane Champagne, Treat Her Right, Pastiche, The Plimsouls (featured in the film, Valley Girls with Nicholas Cage), The Cars, The Cure, Ray Davies of The Kinks, and many more.
I have also been involved with arranging commercial soundtracks, corporate communications, benefits, and wrote the advertising campaigns for Guinness ("brilliant", when my brother John was CEO), worked with Replogle Globes (founded by my family - the world's largest manufacturers of globes), Hot House Press ( my father's post-retirement publishing business, after his Presidency of Merriam-Webster and position on the Board of Directors at Houghton-Mifflin), and Rainmaker & Sparky's Garage, two advertising agencies owned by my brother, Bill, before he sold to Qorvis Communications, one of the premiere PR firms in the USA... He is still engaged with them as Managing Director.
I am currently self-employed by my name solely, as a freelance Artist Manager and Publicist. I find that my connections established with the music world and the community of actors, models, and celebrities on Myspace is more effective than any other dot com I have had.
My one on one connections with clientele is what differentiates me from so many faceless/nameless people assigned to tasks in the ordinary publicity firm. I am well known, well respected, and well liked. Which is why people pick up the phone when I call, read my press releases, and generally give me the time of day, knowing that I only represent artists and causes worthy of attention.
And like the name of my initial corporation, I still take a 'low key' approach to promotion and publicity, because it is always the high road to the transfer of enthusiasm.

A NOTEWORTHY QUOTE FROM JOHN LENNON

...Don't you think that the Beatles gave every sodden thing they had to be the Beatles? That took a whole section of our youth - that period when everybody was just goofing off, we were working 24 hours a day... "First of all, it was making it big in Liverpool, and then being the best group in the county, then being the best group in England. And then we got to Scotland and broke them in. Your goal was always a few yards ahead rather than right up there. Our goal was to be bigger than Elvis, but we didn't actually believe we were going to do it... When the Beatles were depressed - thinking the group is going nowhere, and this is a shitty deal, and we're in a shitty dressing room - I'd say, "Where are we going fellas?" And they'd go, "To the top, Johnny!" And I'd say, "Where's that, fellas?" and they'd say, "To the toppermost of the poppertmost!" and i'd say, "Right!" Then we'd all sort of cheer up.
