LAZY STEP

Il gruppo Lazy Step nasce dall’incontro tra due appassionati di blues amanti della buona musica suonata dal vivo. Flavio Cipriano studia canto con Giovanni Bartolini e si innamora dell’armonica diatonica ai concerti degli italiani Rico Blues Combo. Il loro leader, Riccardo “Rico” Migliarini, lo guida all’ascolto dei grandi maestri dell’armonica blues (Sonny Terry, Sonny Boy Williamson I & II, Walter Horton...). È a Bologna che Flavio inizia a suonare con Fabrizio Bezzini, conosciuto sui banchi dell’Università. Fondamentale per il “Bezzo” è l’incontro con Roberto Menabò, che gli insegna il fingerpicking, l’uso del bottleneck e gli fa scoprire autentiche leggende del country-blues come Blind Boy Fuller, Rev.Gary Davis, Blind Blake.... Le lezioni del maestro Bob Brozman contribuiranno a far crescere in Fabrizio la passione per questa musica. Così, il duo sviluppa un repertorio suonato interamente con strumenti acustici (chitarra resofonica, chitarra acustica, ukulele, armonica e voce) che comprende brani rubati alle vecchie incisioni degli anni ’20 e ‘30 ( Delta blues, country-blues, Piedmont blues, ragtime, gospel.....) fino ad arrivare al più moderno Chicago blues. Fabrizio Bezzini e Flavio Cipriano, dopo un periodo di “apprendistato” agli angoli delle strade, hanno partecipato, sotto il nome Red Rooster, a numerose manifestazioni presenti in Italia, tra le quali: 'Ferrara Buskers Festival', 'Mercantia' (Certaldo FI), 'ArtiStrada' (Colmurano MC), 'Imola in Musica' (Imola BO), Carnevale di Venezia... Hanno inoltre suonato in molti locali in tutt’Italia. Nel 2007 i due hanno passato un lungo periodo negli Stati Uniti. Flavio ha avuto l'opportunità di imparare da maestri dell'armonica come Mike Turk e Annie Raines, Fabrizio ha avuto la possibilità di sentire dal vivo musicisti come Doc Watson e Roy Book Binder. Nel 2008 con la ripresa dell’attività dal vivo, sotto il nome Lazy Step, arriva anche la prima prova discografica “Blues in the kitchen”. Il disco, uscito a metà maggio, comprende quindici brani registrati “in presa diretta” in una session nella quale il duo, suonando di fronte a due microfoni, senza l’ausilio di amplificatori o strumentazione elettronica, riscopre il gusto per le autentiche sonorità acustiche. LAZY STEP is an Acoustic Blues duo of guitar, voice and harmonica.The "Lazy Step" duo began by the fateful meeting of two blues fanatics, fans of great live music! Flavio Cipriano studied singing with Giovanni Bartolini and fell in love with the harmonica after listening to the Italian band Rico Blues Combo. The founder and leader of the group, Riccardo “Rico” Migliarini, showed Flavio the great blues harmonica masters such as Sonny Terry, Sonny Boy Williamson I & II and Walter Horton . It was in Bologna that Flavio started to play with Fabrizio Bezzini. Basicly, Fabrizio had met Roberto Menabò who taught Fabrizio "the fingerpicking technique", the use of the bottleneck and made him discover the real country-blues legends such as Blind Boy Fuller, Rev. Gary Davis, Blind Blake… Fabrizio also studied under guitar master Bob Brozman which helped in his discovery and passion for this "Roots" style american music form. Because of Fabrizio’s dedication to this kind of music, the duo has developed a repertoire performed only with acoustic instruments; i.e. acoustic and resophonic guitars, natural voice and acoustic blues harmonica. This repetoire includes songs stolen from old Delta blues, Piedmont blues and gospel recordings of the Twenties and Thirties, as well as Chicago blues in this naturally acoustic approach.Fabrizio Bezzini and Flavio Cipriano began playing on the street corners. They took the name Red Rooster and were invited to perfom at many Festivals such as: ’Ferrara Buskers Festival’ (Ferrara), ’Mercantia’ (Certaldo FI), ’ArtiStrada’ (Colmurano MC), Carnival of Venice... They also appeared at other venues in Italy and Europe. In 2007 each spent a long period in the USA. Flavio improved his harmonica technique with the help of such masters as Mike Turk and also Annie Raines. Fabrizio had opportunities to see and listen in live performances of legendary greats like Doc Watson and Roy Book Binder. He traveled throughout the United States. In 2008 they took the name Lazy Step, started touring again and made their first record “Blues in the kitchen”. Every song was recorded the “old school way”, no overdubs, just live, and shows their love for the authentic acoustic sound.You can find Lazy Step at many different venues and festivals (and perhaps a rare street corner near you!) throughout Italy performing in the great acoustic blues tradition, please enjoy it!
