"The wolf is a trickster...."

About Me

Asva has finished they're first full length effort entitled 'Futurist's Against the Ocean'. The four tracks clock in at just under an hour: 'Kill the Dog, Tie Them Up, Then Take the Money', 'Zaum;Beyonsense', 'Fortune', and 'By the Well of Living and Seeing', were recorded by Randall Dunn and Billy Anderson at Aleph Studios, and mixed by Asva, Mell Dettmer and Randall Dunn. Stephen O'Malley and Bootsykronos assembled the artwork for the release. The CD format will be on Web Of Mimicry Records and be in stores April 11, the vinyl gatefold version will be released on Dos Fatales soon thereafter. Andy Shal of Digital Metal writes "This is the drone record for people who hate drone records."
The first recorded document to be released on Dos Fatales was the Asva / Burning Witch - Split 12" Vinyl Picture Disc limited to 500 copies with hand silk screened covers by Matt Chen and Bootsykronos. This recording has been sold out.
Enteruption and the Electric Heavyland has released on 12" Asva's 'The Third Plague' b/w 'A Trap For Judges', each track clocks in at around 14 minutes. 'The Third Plague' was originally written as music for an independent horror film which regrettably never saw the light of day. The track features guest appearances by Eyvind Kang (viola) and Randall Dunn (harmonium). 'A Trap For Judges' was recorded live at Rex's in Westchester Pa. by Scott Slimm. Wrapping up a grueling East coast tour Asva was completely possessed that night and the careful listener would notice two hesitations during the opening passage; this is due B.R.A.D.'s vomiting on himself and his kit (bar-be-que chicken pizza... only in Pa.), now thats heavy! This recording has been sold out.
Asva has just been signed by Southern Records to a two album recording contract... 'What You Dont Know Is Frontier' is slated for release worldwide April 2008 on both cd and limited gatefold vinyl formats. US and European tours will follow shortly thereafter. Asva's follow up record, tentatively entitled 'Termagant' is currently under construction. Southern Records has also agreed to release 'Futurist's Against The Ocean' on gatefold vinyl- all very good news!

Sounds Like: MOJO MAGAZINE- Oct 2005: Epic doom metal that storms the heavens while dragging its turgid riffs from the depths of hell...

VERBICIDE- issue 15: Futurists's Against The Ocean is by far the most interesting and innovative endeavor I've heard in quite some time largely due to the eclectic group of people who created it...

TERRORIZER- ..134: Asva chase the thrill of the new but can still carve the sound of the world crashing down out of the barest constituents. A rare treat, then. 9/10.

METAL HAMMER- live review, The Garage, London: Thier performance has us in mind of mangled car wreckage, blotchy x-rays and unexpected 2am phone calls, leaving us free to breath a sigh of relief when its all over. We're all doomed, or at least we are tonight.

MOJO MAGAZINE- January 2006: Asva 'Futurist's Against The Ocean' Underground picks by Andrew Carden ... top 10 releases 2005.

STYLUS MAGAZINE- January 2006: Asva "Futurist's Against The Ocean' top 10 releases 2005

Asva has been awarded a development grant for the year 2007 by the ASCAPLUS awards panel... hurrah!
A short portion from my favorite Google translation of a review, by the German magazine Empty-Room.de: Achja- The music on 'Futurist's Does Not Against The Ocean' developes after wording of the Masterminds to a small part while Dahlquist gathers the shit of its dogs. The origin of true doom. They gave it high marks!
