CLARINETIST and COMPOSER

About Me

ABOUT MY MUSIC ON MYSPACE.

End of the sixties i started to play jazz. It was a hard time for professional jazz musicians in Germany, because nobody was interested in this kind of music. And even less were interested in playing clarinet. There were only a few clubs, festivals and concert-places. People prefered BEAT, SOUL and ROCK MUSIC. From the very beginning i worked in different musical contexts. For example, i took some experience with ROCK groups, because it was a unusally place for clarinetists at this time. On the page of my friend Muck Groh you can hear a composition of mine, which is called" "SALOME". The piece was recorded 1980 and you can hear me playing electrically alterable clarinet in the beginning of it. Still in our days i like this kind of experience, which differs from my daily work. THINKING ABOUT JIMMY is an improvisation, which i recorded in Hamburg with the help of my friends from the GERMAN ROCK SCENE, Hendrik Schaper and Guenter Haas. I worked in a quit comfortable situation. While we were drinking coffee and talking about the music scene, we recorded the CD in Hendrik's living room. A duo-version of THINKING ABOUT JIMMY was recorded with bassist Hagen Stuedemann 2007 in Berlin. In January 2008 the TRIO HOT recorded the piece YUO ZUO. It was the first recording of mine with my new g low clarinet. A beautiful instrument. Thanks a lot to Wolfgang Dietz, who made it. In the year 2007 we toured with the THEO JÖRGENSMANN SECOND QUARTET in Poland. We recorded some of our concerts. The compositions DIE KALTEN HERREN was live recorded at ESTRADA THEATER in Poznan. Thanks to Wojciech Juszczak, who made this production possible. PERRATA was recorded at CLUB ALCHEMIA in Cracow. A very friendly place. Thanks to Anja, Jacek and Oleg. My friends Marcin and Bartek Oles and me had a lot of fun, and it was a nice evening. In 2006 my friend Dieter Kühr (first clarinet) invited me (second clarinet) and the chinese bass clarinetist Boas Tian to play Mozart. Dieter Kühr is a pupil of Heinrich Geuser and for me one of the bests classical clarinetists in Germany. Boas Tian belongs to the first generation has studied classical music in People's Republik of China after the Cultural Revolution. He was one of forty thousands clarinet-applicant for a place at Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. We recorded MOZART's DIVERTIMENTI 1-3 (KV annex 229). To put another kind of energie and different colours into Mozart's music, Dieter had the idea to perform the compositions with a jazz clarinetist. And it works. The result is an archiacally and powerfully version of Mozart's compositions. DANCING MOZART
