""He doesn't play his pieces, he dances them, with a deep sense for the space between sparkling notes", says French master guitarist Pierre Bensusan about Ansgar Dälken. After three CDs Ansgar has finally established his position in the top league of European Fingerstyle guitarists.
Ansgar Dälken's special musical language, which captures from the very first note, is based on deeply felt and masterfully interpreted playing. His excellent technique is not directed at "athletic achievements", but on the depth and value of every single note. The results are a beautifully resonating tone and a music full of broad open horizons and intense atmosphere, in which the listener loves to bathe - guitaristic panorama paintings.
Ansgar Dälken’s influences range over a wide field. Born 1961, guitarist since 1972, he is first influenced by the music of the seventies and a wide-ranged and qualified musical education at school. Since the beginning of the eighties he is intensively attending to solo work, inspired by guitarists like Peter Finger, Pierre Bensusan, Alex de Grassi or Ralph Towner. Doing this he is never a pure guitarist, he is making music in the best sense of the word. So the influences range from Celtic and Eastern European folk to Jazz, classical music and more..
1997 his first CD Pooka is released after several years of own production and reflects this development.
1999 he wins the 2nd prize at the guitar competition of the OPEN STRINGS Festival , according to Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung "the state of the art of the acoustic guitar". His performance is so impressive, that Europes most renowned acoustic guitar label, Acoustic Music Records , contracts him.
2000 they release his second CD Madeleine which is enthusiastically acclaimed by public, press and well-known colleagues.
After that Ansgar Dälken is a welcome visitor at concerts all over Germany and at international guitar festivals. He wins more and more fans, far beyond guitarist’s spheres.
2002 his third CD Llaneza is released and receives excellent reviews. Unlike it's predecessors, which were partially produced with ensemble, it is be completely solo. As in concerts, the fascination of his music is heard in it's best advantage.
2003 he is participant of the International Guitar Night Tour all over Germany.
2004-2007 he successfully finishes the huge project of arranging the entire work of jazz legend Thelonious Monk for DADGAD solo guitar.
2008 he is back on stage with an all new program.
