BRAD SHEPIK is successfully mining the
deep undercurrent of avant jazz with organist Gary Versace and
percussionist Tom Rainey, the current line up of his Trio. Their new
release “Places You Go†(Songlines) has received critical praises
from among others, Downbeat (4 stars) and Timeout Chicago which
called the record, “… the jazz equivalent of a road album, his best
work yet.â€In addition to his Trio, Brad is a current member of Joey
Baron’s Killer Joey, Matt Darriau’s Paradox Trio, Simon Shaheen’s
Quantara, Bob Brookmeyer Quartet, and Alexis Cuadrado Quintet.Other musical associations include performances with Dave Douglas’
Tiny Bell Trio, Paul Motian’s Electric Be Bop Band (1991-96), Charlie
Haden’s Liberation Music Orchestra (1997), Carla Bley’s Escalator
Over the Hill (1997-98), Yuri Yunakov (1995-96), Tim Berne
(1993), Andy Laster (1994), Franz Kogelman (1998), Owen Howard
(1995-96), Nils Wogram (1995-6), and Ken Schaphorst (1998).
