PREPARE FOR THE COMING DARKNESS.

About Me

An author of five published books, a forthcoming novel (INHABITED), several short stories and poetry, I have been writing professionally for the last 15 years. My specialty is horror fiction with underlying Christian themes- an unusual mix of gore and faith, but it seems to work! Before pursuing my personal writing endeavors, I had the great honor and privelege of publishing/editing the PHANTASM "phanzine" THE SENTINEL and the anthology book "PHANTASM: FURTHER EXCURSIONS INTO OBLIVION (both endorsed by PHANTASM creator Don Coscarelli). To this day, the PHANTASM film series holds a place near and dear to my black heart and shall always serve as a tremendous source of creative inspiration.Visit my official website at www.darkeprose.com, my publisher's website at www.lulu.com/richarddean, and the Official Richard Dean Store at www.cafepress.com/richarddean for cool swag and collectibles (while there, be sure to sign up for the store newsletter for great offers and discounts).ABOUT MY "MYSPACE" (Please Read Before Making a Friend Request): If you wish to make a friend request, that's great! Chances are I'll approve you after paying a visit your page. But please observe these few very simple rules:1. If you want to be my MySpace friend, then please be a friend and say something to me. Once approved, post a comment, leave a message, ANYTHING... Friends communicate, right? Be a friend to me and I'll be one to you.2. If you do post a message, please avoid using profanity or overly suggestive images. It will be deleted. I am a Christian (albeit an atypical one) and even though I love gory movies, heavy metal, and writing horror fiction, I don't need or want anyone splattering my page with F-bombs or "fake" chicks promoting webcam/porn sites.3. BANDS - Please feel free to continue submitting add requests and I'll keep adding you to my list. I believe strongly in providing any support possible to new artists on the rise. However, please revisit rule number one above before submitting your friend request. I don't care if you are in a band- If you're humble enough to send me a friend request, then you're not too big to say "hi" once I do approve it. New from RICHARD DEAN...INHABITED... My Interests

Richard Dean is a proud member of the International Order of Horror Professionals.I love church, my family, writing, art, the beautiful state of Florida (where I dream of someday residing), the Halloween season, gothic photography, Disney theme parks and Disneyana, the ocean, NASA and space exploration, horror and sci-fi movies and memorabilia, collecting original E.C. horror comics, collecting SPEED RACER memorabilia, cats, collecting guitar picks from metal bands, baseball (go Railcats!), football, bowling, paintball, golf (even though I suck sooooooo badly), NHRA drag racing, music (listening to, learning, and playing)... My Jackson Rhoads-style "V" and B.C. Rich Mockingbird are two of my best friends!

I'd like to meet:

Sadly, many talents I have admired greatly have already passed on, such as virtuoso guitarist Randy Rhoads, Denis D'Amour (VOIVOD guitarist, aka "Piggy"), H.P. Lovecraft, (Italian horror director) Lucio Fulci, Bruce Lee, Walt Disney, etc., etc.I would love the opportunity to meet some of the wonderful friends I have made here at MySpace. I think the world of you guys and would love to give all of you an in-person hug. And lest I forget the mighty Urnguard, whose friendship I have valued long before this monolithic entity known as MySpace gained my attention. Some amazing talents in the here and now I would like to meet (or have an opportunity to meet again): H.R. Giger (an amazing artist who I actually did have the pleasure of meeting back in 1979!), David Cronenberg, George Romero (a true gentleman!), Don Coscarelli, Angus Scrimm, Dario Argento, (ARCH ENEMY's) Angela Gossow, (EVANESCENCE's) Amy Lee, (CELTIC FROST's) Tom G. Fischer, actress Catriona MacColl, actress Caroline Munro (who I met a few years ago and is a beautiful, wonderful lady), Stitch (from LILO AND STITCH), and Stan Lee.Last, but certainly not least, I would love to meet all creative people of faith and any of my wonderful readers.

With the new breed of directors, Mike Mendez, Nacho Cerda, James Gunn, Guillermo del Toro and Eli Roth impress me mightily.Weird, psychological stuff like ERASERHEAD, THE MACHINIST, THE JACKET, DONNIE DARKO, and JACOB'S LADDER makes my twisted brain happy...The occasional screwball comedy such as ANIMAL HOUSE, HAROLD AND KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE, 40 YEAR-OLD VIRGIN, DODGEBALL, THE RINGER, CADDYSHACK, HAPPY GILMORE, KINGPIN, OFFICE SPACE, KUNG POW, MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL, KNOCKED UP, FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL, etc., etc., makes me laugh (even when I know I sometimes shouldn't)...Superhero stuff like SPIDERMAN 1 & 2, IRON MAN, X-MEN series, BATMAN films (except the two by Schumacher), THE PUNISHER, DAREDEVIL, SUPERMAN RETURNS, etc., etc., thrills me..An occasional human drama or two will stealthily infiltrate my viewing screen and warm my cold, jaded heart. I greatly appreciate films such as THE NATURAL, AMERICAN HISTORY X, AN UNFINISHED LIFE, and THE STATION AGENT (a wonderful, understated little movie that I can watch over and over again). And, of course, anything with zombies absolutely RULES! Be sure to join my STARCRASH tribute group (recently updated with a review/essay and tons of new images/video)! http://groups.myspace.com/starcrashLatest DVD Recommendation: THE REAPING

Television:

I'm not a big TV fan. If it's not a movie, I'm generally not interested. Some television favorites from the past, though, include SPEED RACER (the greatest television show ever created), NIGHT STALKER, ARK II, DARK SHADOWS, NIGHT GALLERY, SPACE: 1999, UFO, THUNDERBIRDS, BABYLON 5, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (1979) and probably a few more my feeble brain can't remember at the moment. Currently, I do enjoy BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, FAMILY GUY and, for some strange reason, AMERICAN IDOL.

I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V3.6 !

Books:

LOGAN'S RUN (Nolan/Johnson), BOOKS OF BLOOD (Barker), NIGHT SHIFT (King), INTENSITY (Koontz), DAMNATION ALLEY (Zelazny), anything by H.P. Lovecraft... And, of course, the Bible.

Heroes:

Jesus Christ.
