The MANDINGO reggae band began in March 2006, orientating in playing as close as possible to the roots reggae style and sound from Jamaica. RAYMOND PENN, the lead vocalist (with one LP "SYSTEM" hit song "I MAN STAND RASTA"-Eggonics Records with members of JAH STIX band of MAJEK FASHEK in his homeland Nigeria), joined the band in October 2006, and since then the band has performed in many clubs in Athens, appeared at the 6th & 7th African Food, Music & Handicrafts Festival, performed as a support band for YONDO SISTER & her makossa dancers (France) and has also participated in the 1st Cultural festival in Athens, playing live with one of the most famous saxophonists in the world, ALEX FOSTER ( Miles Davis, Jaco Pastorius, Barry Finnerty...! ) .
The band is working on their own songs as well as on cover versions of well known Reggae artists including Bob Marley & the Wailers, Dennis Brown, Lucky Dube, Gregory Isaaks and many more...
The demo was recorded at the TRIBAL 2 STUDIO by Kostas Perrakis ([email protected]).
