Where to begin? Let's see I have been rapping since I was about 14 years old. I did my first show in in 1996, my first real big show in 2000 with KRS-One. I have since played with everyone from Fat Joe to Aesop Rock to The Two Gallants. In 2003 I was a part of a group called Lost and Found Generation with Ashkon, Coley Cole, Samix and DJ Silly Kid. We made an album called "Pacific Avenue." It was financed by a kid who sold drugs. Right around the time of the album's completion he shot someone during an attempted robbery. Needless to say the proper funding and promotion of our rap album ceased to be a big concern for him. Still, in spite of being produced, recorded, and mixed entirely in attics, bedrooms and hallways, utilizing equipment and computer programs that would make you chuckle, people really seemed to like it. You can buy it right here on this page if you would like.
I spent the next several years trying to build a company that could properly, record, promote and sell music without needing to involve drug dealers or Cool Edit. We have since built Rec-Center Studios in Santa Cruz, and produced a gang of albums, mixtapes and other cool shit. Some of which can be heard by clicking on the Rec-Radio button on this very page.
I have just finished pressing about 1,000 copies of my solo debut "The Most I'll Confess." It features Zion I, DJ MF Shalem and most of the cats from my crew. I am very proud of the work that everyone did on this album. I made this record for those of us who believe that hip-hop can still be great. It is not as good as the rap being made by Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Killer Mike, Pharoahe Monch, Ghostface Killah, Brother Ali, Joell Ortiz, Andre 3000 or some of the music my friends make. It is better than the rap being made by everyone else.
There are four songs from the album on the player here and if you would like to hear the whole thing you can go to another site which myspace disables the link to. If you can translate... mistersayreDOTIMEEMDOTCOM
The plan was to release the album nationally in early '08, but having just lost a major investor we are currently in the process of determining how the hell that is still possible. For now it is for sale right here and at all my shows. Check it out let me know what you think. Anyways, I am out for now... you kids keep it real... HOLLAYour results:
