HERE'S WHAT SOME MIGHTY NICE FOLKS HAVE SAID ABOUT TOM:
"Seattle just scored the coolest (and sweetest) DJ this side of the
Mississippi! ...Tom is a DJ with awesome flair, well-versed in old-time,
country & more!" - STAIRWELL SISTERS (San Francisco)
"Thanks for the great job at the Wayne Hancock show" - TRACTOR TAVERN (Seattle)
"Tom has been a central figure in the Santa Cruz music scene for well
over a decade. In his 13-year DJ career Tom has spun everything from
House music to 50s-style Western Swing to 80s New Wave Rock as well
as anything else that might fall in between" - LOST & FOUND GENERATION (Santa Cruz)
"For the past year we at Red Radio have been lucky enough to count
Tom amongst our resident Djs. Santa Cruz will be losing an integral
piece of its musical puzzle when DJ Tom LG leaves us for the greener
pastures of Seattle, WA" - RED LOUNGE (Santa Cruz)
"It was great to have you at the Tractor spinning discs, so much better
than the usual random selection of slightly related stuff that usually gets
played there in between sets" - CAPTAIN GRAVEL (Seattle)
"I don’t know this Tom LG character, but based on this description of his
DJ playlist tonight, I should have taken the time to meet him before he
says farewell to Seattle. It’s your last chance to hear him in town, and
the music sounds like it’s going to be pretty amazing" - STRANGER MAGAZINE (Seattle)
"More than happy to have you back" - EMERALD CITY SOUL CLUB
(Seattle)
"Cheers to Seattles hippest, most freshest DJ. Ya gotta listen to DJ Tom
LG spinnin' stuff that will open your mind!" - OVAL LEAGUE (Seattle)
"The set was brilliant. So many people had a great time, and you
provided the atmosphere my friend. Thanks again." - ON THE BOARDS (Seattle)
"Thanks for spending your weekend with us... a great set list" -
EASY STREET RECORDS (Seattle)
"Tom LG has always been a top notch DJ, not to mention a swell guy.
He can play almost any genre with ease. It was always a pleasure
spinning with him at The Blue Lagoon in Santa Cruz." - DJ TRIPP
BLUE LAGOON (Santa Cruz)
"He is one of the most musically intelligent people that I know. Tom is a
musical visionary and I am very proud to say that he is my mentor and
I aspire to be as good a DJ as he is."- CRICKET aka DJ TEKTRIX
(San Francisco)

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: new site under construction!
Band Members: 5,000+ 45s, 78s & LPs

Influences: Tom has fashioned himself after the old time radio DJ playing vintage rockabilly, rhythm & blues, jump blues doo-wop, western swing, classic country and old-time Appalachian, bluegrass, acoustic Delta blues, traditional vocal jazz & swing.Other inspirations include records and more records... and he's just crazy for them little 45s!
Sounds Like: An alternate old-time America where music echoes through the air like dusty dreams. He creates vinyl moods and atmospheres that compliment the venue. He strives to recreate the feel of a 1930's Jazz club or a 1940's Honky-Tonk. Sometimes he may take you to a record-hop in 1959 or to an Appalachian mountain porch back in 1929.

"I like the mood to reflect an old-time radio show with all the cracks and pops of a dusty 78 record... It's a rare occasion that people can enjoy hearing vintage records being played in the days of ipods and digital media. I usually spend days on end working on a single set. I dig through 100s and 100s of records for hours at a time to achieve the precise sound I wish people to experience. I find the soul of recorded music lies in the original medium. Records have been around since the turn of the century. For me the idea of what they represent has become a philosophy to live by. I love music in all it's infinite possibility."

*NIGHTWALK the 6th volume in the Red Radio series. This unique mix features 23 handpicked rhythm & blues, doo-wop, rockabilly & swing rarities from the 1930's to the 1950's. It was recorded in a live DJ set in March '06. Click on the thumbnail to order

Available in April '07
* DEUCES WILD vol 2 a collection of 20 blazing rockabilly and western swing tunes

* IN THE SHADOW OF THE PINE a collection of 20 contemporary old- time, folk and bluegrass tunes compiled in August '06
