He became zealous about music at a very early age and began taking guitar lessons by the age of fifteen. With his father, Louis Ruest, as an influence and his uncle, Louis Mastrobattisto, as a mentor, Chris began playing local clubs. As Chris studied and played the music he loved he realized that his favorite music was seeded by the blues and decided that the blues is the life for him. The Blues scene in Connecticut didn't really have the sound he was looking for, so he set off to live where it felt right. In 1999 Chris moved to Texas where he found the sound he was looking for. In Texas Chris learned from and became acquainted with many of the local talents and legends such as Anson Funderburgh, Hash Brown, Ray Sharpe and Sam Myers. He has also had the privilege of working with Ft. Worth star Ray Sharpe (who wrote Linda Lou), Lee McBee, Johnny Moeller, Cheryl Arena, Nick Curran, Mike Morgan, Hash Brown, Preston Hubbard, Sam Myers, Joe Jonus, Wanda King, Bill Johnston, Jon Griffin and Robin Banks, just to name a few. Chris has also appeared in opening acts for Edgar Winter, Johnny Winter, Little Charlie and The NIght Cats , The Browntones, and Smokin Joe Kubec. Chris released his first compact disc, Too Many Problems, showcasing 11 original songs and 4 takes on his old blues favorites. This CD proudly features Preston Hubbard, Nick Curran, Eric Mathews, Hash Brown, Matt Farell, Bill Johnston, Kevin Schermerhorn, Kaz Kazonoff and The Texas Horns! Some of Chriss influences include; Albert Collins, Gatemouth Brown, Johnny Watson, Lowell Fullson, Guitar Jr., Jimmie Vaughan, Lightnin Hopkins, Robert Nighthawk, Earl Hooker, Elmore James and many, many others.FOR BOOKING EMAIL [email protected] OR CALL 214-274-5908!!!

Chris comes from a family of guitar players, so of course he took up the blues. After playing around the clubs in Connecticut, he moved to Texas and learned a lot more jamming with the locals. Hash Brown thought he was ready, and helped Chris put this CD together along with some of their friends. Nick Curran, Preston Hubbard, Matt Farrell and Kaz Kazenoff and the Texas horns and more joined the party. Solid original songs with singing and guitar playing to match."

Sounds Like: "Do not seek to follow in the footsteps of the wise. Seek what they sought." Chris Ruest Too Many Problems Browntone 3457 You got to dig this one upfront just for the cover photo alone. It’s Chris in a mug shot down at Dallas County lockup. And truthfully, who isn’t going to jail these days? Okay, except Michael Jackson, who isn’t going to jail! Well the cover picture is appropriate. If hard rocking, foot thumping, rockabilly infused blues was a crime, they should throw the book at this guy. A life sentence without hope of parole for good behavior. This is a truly wonderful CD. I enjoyed the heck out of it. 15 great tracks. Tons of original material. Lots of fun. Matt Farrell handles outstanding piano and organ. You got two of my favorite peeps playing guitar and backing up on vocals on some tracks: Nick Curran and the Brownest of Hash, Brian Calway. Some people call him Hash Brown. I call him great. Curran is a wonderful talent. I remember hearing him literally swing the roof off a joint in El Paso once. Recently I barely recognized him as the lead guitarist for the Thunderbirds. Seriously Nick, I dig the new hair. Both these gentlemen are perfect for the CD, and really help Ruest capture that amazing sound he is going for. It’s got a tremendous flavor and attitude without coming across as forced. The Texas Horns are also on hand and do a fantastic bang up first class job. Now let’s get to Ruest. He’s really talented. I love the vocals and the guitar work. He is also a fantastic songwriter. His tunes are genuine. When they hit the wall, they stick. Check out “Baby I’ll Be Your Dog” or “Just Like A Puppet”. The tunes really have a great throwback feel without the nostalgia or the sentiment. You know, the old sound for the old sound sake. This is good stuff. Do yourself a favor and pick up Too Many Problems and stay out of jail! - Bill FountainFOR BOOKING EMAIL [email protected] OR CALL 214-274-5908!!!
