The Revolution is Here!

About Me

When you hear Myla Hardie for the first time you are hearing the real thing. Myla is a blues musician, singer and songwriter who takes the traditional style of the blues and injects a modern sound. Her original songs have a style that is all her own with powerful lyrics and dynamic melodies. Myla was born in Hollywood, California and raised in Austin, Texas. As the daughter of blues musician and songwriter, Michael Hardie, she was exposed to soul and blues music from a very young age. She began playing piano before she could walk and talk. Myla also is a classically trained violist. At 13 she went to East Berlin, Germany to study classical music and tour with her father while attending school. At 14 Myla started her own string quartet called, "World Haus" with Warren Hood on violin (son of legendary Texas musician, Champ Hood). World Haus became a fixture around Austin for the next four years winning several competitions, airing on television broadcast channels and playing a weekly gig on Austin’s prestigious 6th Street.Myla moved to New York City at 17 and soon started writing prolifically and playing her songs wherever she could. In 2003, she formed The Myla Hardie Band whose members include Brazilian drummer, Eduardo Guedes, bassist, Renato R. and Myla on piano and lead vocals. The result was her debut album "In the Heart Of" released on her independent record label, Worldhaus Records. The ten-track album includes a guest performance by Italian saxophonist Emanuele Coluccia (Jazzlito, 1999). At 24 Myla has her songs recorded on her self-produced album which includes three songs from her father, a Bob Dylan, and a Bonnie Raitt tune she has adapted to her unique style. She had her first successful two month tour in Brazil at the beginning of 2007 debuting the The Myla Hardie Family Band. Michael Hardie finally joining the band and now husband, Eduardo Guedes on drums and percussion makes the band a family affair. Myla is a true international musician bringing her American roots with her wherever she plays. Take the time to listen and you will hear a young artist who has a rare understanding of music beyond her years. An artist who sounds like no other, Myla Hardie is the real thing.
