The paths of pianist, composer Maija Ruuskanen and vocalist, songwriter Katja Maria crossed during their studies at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. Their musical collaboration has resulted in several concert projects in Helsinki featuring a band consisting of the best of young Finnish jazz and folk musicians. Their latest collaboration, a singer-songwriter tour in The Netherlands in October-November 2007, also featured the Pavadita tango string quartet and Adinda Meertins on double bass. Together these two creative ladies bring forth a brand of music that can be best described as “Finnish chamber pop†– a singer-songwriter program consisting of songs in English, Finnish and Swedish, acoustic pop with Scandinavian folk music and jazz flavors.
