Influences:
Don't know much about my influences. As every musician, I've heard that I sound like this and that. But I've always felt myself as a tiger that can't get rid of his stripes.
Everyone on my Friend list gains my deepest respect and admire. Blessings to all of you. I think anyone who is capable to create music in a way or another is blessed by the most beautiful gift. Joni Mitchell has a strong influence on me. She makes me burst into tears, no matter if she's telling a joke with her husky tenor or cooing with the like-a-virgin soprano. So you can imagine what it is when it comes to her music. She is miraculous. The line "Love stimulated my illusions more than anything" is from her tune 'Song For Sharon' which is one of the dearest song to me. Sting and Paul Simon are musicians who have become near to the idea that I'd like to become. Good basic musicianship, excellent songs, charisma on stage, lot of emotions and nuances in their music, great bands... Björk is the one who is going to have pages in the music history books of the future. Who has been more creative and new in the last century? No-one else like her. The sound of John Coltrane's horn puts my skin on goose-flesh right from the first tone. I had a huge impression meeting Richard Bona for the first time. Incredible musicality, immense charisma (and a great sense of humor). Who wouldn't be impressed of Jeff Buckley (I'm not that rock, though). The albums 'Aerial' by Kate Bush and 'Modern Times' by Bob Dylan were the latest albums I listened over and over again. Not necessary to mention how huge artists both of them are. As a pianist I've always been more "Mozartean" than "Beethovenian" (don't know why I've always thought these two are the polar fastenings for piano music). Mozart is very dear and intimate for me and makes me fall into tears. As Chopin too. But on a different way than Bach whom I find introvert and time to time even painful. I teach piano and one of my students asked me if we could play Nina Simone's version of the song 'I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free'. I ended up listening the tune maybe 100 times. Nina Simone came to my mind while mentioning Bach. She is impressive. What else? Rokia Traoré. Salif Keita. Coldplay. Pat Metheny. Stevie Wonder. Jimi Hendrix. Richard Tee. Steve Gadd. The Band. U2. Mike Stern. Maria Rita. Nick Drake. Bill Evans. Ella Fitzgerald. Philip Glass. Aretha Franklin. Rickie Lee Jones. Caetano Veloso. Led Zeppelin. Gentle Giant. Camel. Aimee Mann. Milton Nascimento. Vusi Mahlasela. Police. To start with. ..
