Singer-lyricist Mo Millar was born in a family of musicians and broadcasters of Dutch/Canadian descent. She sings since her awareness of the cacaphony of sound in her surroundings, but describes herself professionally as a "latecomer" despite solid credentials and background in music. Giving up a previous career in journalism and "the crazy double life many artists know so well", she fully dedicates herself to what she feels is her true calling. Mo entered this new era when meeting the great Italo-Peruvian drummer, composer/producer and sound engineer Luca Solari in 1998. Solari sees and hears what Mo will finally understand herself about her own talent (a 'big voice', excellent pitch as well as an extraordinary sense of rhythm) against her numerous services to others.
He introduces her to American top vocalist Jennifer Weatherly (an incredible source of warmth and wisdom), bluegrass fiddle virtuoso Willy Wainwright, guitar player Nicolas Wetzell Jr. and many others. With Wetzell, Peruvian composer and songwriter, she delivers her first acoustic project and releases "Goin' Basic" (2005). Mo: "I always 'flourished late' with many things in my life". Since collaborating with Luca Solari, Nicolas Wetzell, another guitar great Guy Nikkels (NL/Colombia), Venezuelan percussion expert Julio D'Santiago, musical centipede Jose-Luis 'Sarten' Asaresi (Arg) and many others of various musical horizons, her universe broadened significantly.
It allowed Mo to further develop various ways of vocal use and to discover a entirely different approach to music. "Before I've been living up to expectations for a very long time, completely overlooking my fundamentals, which drifted me away from who I am. So it was about time to question myself and 'go basic', which close friends had been telling me all along. They were so right and I can't thank them enough; they know who they are!"
Mo's oldtime passion for the word (stories, lyrics, poems) is now combined with her oldtime love for music. She actually prepares for a 2nd solo album and is coached by vocal guru Cathrine Sadolin of the Complete Vocal Institute (CVI) and her staff. Mo will soon be officially certified in Complete Vocal Technique (CVT) and additionally represents the Complete Vocal Institute (CVI) in Switzerland, where she's currently based.
