Philip Glenister is a British actor, the son of director John Glenister and the brother of actor Robert Glenister. He was born on February 10, 1963 in Harrow, England. He was raised in Hatch End in Harrow, north-west London. He went to Hatch End Comprehensive School and the Central School of Speech and Drama.
Philip has appeared in the television drama series Clocking Off, Island at War, State of Play, Hornblower, Sharpe and Vincent, and the film Calendar Girls. He is probably best known for his role as DCI Gene Hunt in Life On Mars, alongside John Simm's Sam Tyler. Philip also worked with Simm on State of Play and Clocking Off and on the forth-coming 1980's set crime film, Tuesday. At the end of 2007, Philip appeared in BBC Costume Drama, Cranford.
In February, Philip returned as Gene Hunt in Ashes to Ashes on BBC1. Later this year, Philip will be in a new Vampire Drama for ITV. Filming for the second series of Ashes to Ashes has recently commenced in London.On 10th October, "Tuesday" will be released nationwide in cinemas.
