San Francisco Based Producer / Engineer

About Me

I’m a music producer / engineer / musician / songwriter based in San Francisco, CA.
You can check out more of my stuff at www.michaelwinger.com
I record a variety of music. Lately I’ve been busy producing albums for several Bay Area artists. Here are some links to a few of the albums I’ve produced recently
BETH WATERS - This Little Piggy ..
FOREST SUN - Walk Through Walls ..
PEDALSPED - Pedalsped ..
BETH WATERS - Beth Waters ..
FOUR YEAR BENDER - Lucky ..
MICHAEL WINGER - The Modern World ..
DAYROOM - Better Days ..
DAYROOM - Contagious ..
I also do a lot of live and remote recording. My business partner, Boone Spooner and I run Flying Kitchen Productions, a mobile recording company. We have a 48 channel remote controlled Pro Tools HD system which we use to record lots of shows around the Bay. Recently we’ve recorded shows by Keane, Feist, Beth Orton, John Vanderslice, Corinne Bailey Rae, Gomez and many others. Check out Flying Kitchen at www.flying-kitchen.com .."http://www.flying-kitchen.com"
In a former life, I was the front man for the Athens, GA based band, Dayroom. We were together for 8 years, toured the US and Europe, averaging about 220 shows a year. We released 3 full length CD’s as well as a few live recordings and a live video. The band earned accolades and critical success, sold lots of CD’s, sold out club shows and so on. You can check much of that stuff out at www.dayroom.com or at www.myspace.com/dayroom
After the band broke up, I recorded a solo album, "the Modern World" in my bedroom with some borrowed gear and a noisy computer. I finished that and then travelled a bunch trying to figure out where to live next. I spent a summer in New York playing in the subways and coffee shops, tried out the open mic scene in Boston, eventually toured across the country to California, playing bookstores and small clubs. I spent some time in India and Europe. Finally I settled in San Francisco in 2001 and began working as a producer and an engineer.
