From the idea of starting a band made up completely of bass players, Crooner was formed in late 2007 by Ben, Dave and GK (all bass players from the Brighton Institute of Modern Music).
The band had traveled from very different backgrounds before meeting: Ben from Cornwall, GK from a small town in the Midlands and Dave from Venezuela! After several alcohol fuelled conversations, they started to put the idea of a bass playing band into practice and in late November, with the addition of Mr. Tom Wilson behind the kit, created the full line-up.
The acoustic guitar-driven sound with melodic vocals, soul influenced bass, modern sounding electric guitar and solid drumming creates the sound of Crooner and so far the band has received great feedback from all their listeners. Their aim is to play music that is slightly different from the norm and the sheer amount of different influences that each band member has makes this quite an interesting mix.
Crooner has been frantically writing a set, showcasing their best songs around the Brighton music scene and waiting until a full polished set is rehearsed to start touring throughout the UK later in 2008.
