parsimony, bitches

About Me

i am a cynical, skeptical, morose, and idealistic humanitarian (and kind of a geek). i am a biology major, and someday i would like to save humanity from itself:) but if that proves unlikely, in the mean time i want to do medical research. i also model occasionally under the name Nexus: http://www.modelmayhem.com/Nexus
some useful tidbits: i make direct and prolonged eye-contact which, i'm told, can be unnerving. be warned. sometimes, though, i'm not actually looking at you even if i appear to be. I am prone to taking jaunts through the ether suddenly and often. i love language and wordplay. however, i very much prefer meaningful action to empty words. i would rather be brutally gunned down by truth than kept aloft on a kitestring of lies. my sense of humor can be very, very dry. i value intelligence, integrity, compassion, loyalty, determination and self-reliance in other people. these are also the qualities i value most in myself. i am very opinionated. my opinions are neither knee-jerk reaction, nor blindly accepted regurgitated drivel; they have required a great deal of research, consideration, and hopefully some life experience, to formulate. i expect the same of yours; i will probably ignore them if they seem otherwise. I do enjoy a good debate, though, and love to hear points of view both similar to and different than my own.
..

My Interests

science! the nature of existence and knowledge, reading, writing, sewing, cooking, drawing, going to shows, going to school, and most importantly, being a good mum. ..

I'd like to meet:

interesting, intelligent, creative, generally exceptional human beings. i like the friends i have already, but i am always up for meeting new intriguing people. i'm not really overly friendly upon first, or second, meeting. this is partly shyness, and partly that i prefer watching people, and dissecting them from a distance ( a purely non-invasive technique), as it is much safer than direct interaction. i am terribly shy. i typically do not initiate conversation. i am not really as standoffish as i may first seem, and i really am not a snob (two common misconceptions of shy people, i've noticed). if you think you want to talk to me, then do it. someday i'll take my own advise in this department. If you are petty, a manipulative drama queen (or king, femmes don't have a monopoly on this), blissfully ignorant, an unapologetically parasitic jerk, or completely devoid of your own personality, please go take a swan dive off of an overpass. Or at least don't bother talking to me. I promise I will not be nice to you if it becomes clear that you are a shameless oxygen thief.if you listen, act, know your rights, and fight for your civil liberties so they will not be taken from you, then we may get along.hooray for misanthropic humanitarianism.
