(DETROIT, MI) – Howlin Mercy, www.hmblues.com, was formed in 1994. Early on, they cut their blues teeth at leading Detroit blues clubs like Moby Dicks and Sully’s.The band’s sound is guitar driven, spiced up with some slide trombone. The combination of sounds allows Howlin Mercy to present listeners with a unique interpretation of the blues—heavy hitting, authentic and fluid. Influences include Buddy Guy, Albert Collins and Stevie Ray Vaughan, amongst other living and past blues legends.
Howlin Mercy has opened for the likes of harmonica legend James Cotton, Chicago’s Eddie “The Chief†Clearwater and rockabilly king Robert Gordon. Howlin Mercy plays Detroit area blues clubs including Nancy Whiskey - Detroit Memphis Smoke - Royal Oak, Goodnight Gracie's, Michael's on the River, the late Tenny Street Roadhouse, Detroit's Ford Field and hits the road from time to time, playing the likes of:
2007 Wyandotte Street Fair (2006)
2007 Dearborn Homecoming Festival (2005-2006)
2007 Detroit Uncorked at Ford Field (Detroit) - Sept. 28 (2006)

The band covers a lot of ground during their sets. “From the Chicago sounds of Buddy Guy, down to the Delta sounds of Muddy Waters and from the Texas sound of SRV to the Detroit styles of John Lee Hooker, the blues is the greatest and most challenging music to play,†the band remarked.
