I began this page as a forum on behalf of those who have been impacted by pancreatic cancer...current warriors, survivors, caregivers, family members, friends, and those who are unaware of this silent but deadly killer. Pancreatic cancer is the most aggressive of all cancers. Over 37,000 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2007. Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer death. It is the 3rd leading cause of cancer death in men ages 40-59 years old. Yet it only sees about 1.5% of the National Cancer Institute’s $4.8 billion budget. Those of us who have been affected by this disease are incredulous that such an aggressive illness could receive such little funding and attention from the public. There are no pre-screening or early detection tools, which is why 75% of people with pancreatic cancer will die within 12 months of diagnosis.250 people in North America and Europe will die today from pancreatic cancer (90,000 deaths per year). These numbers are startling but are the inspiration that drives us all until a cure is found. We will do more than hope. We will act!..
