About Me

Michalis was born in Limassol, Cyprus in 1977. He graduated from the Department of Music Studies, University of Athens. He also holds a Diploma in Classic Guitar, Clarinet and Music Theory from the Trinity College and the Royal Academy of Music, and a Diploma in Byzantine Music from the Argyroupolis Municipal Conservatory. Michalis gained a degree in Harmony, Counterpoint and Fugue from the Hellenic Conservatory. Moreover, he has studied Greek folk instruments such as Constantinople lute, tampoura etc. Currently, he is a doctoral student in the Music Department of the University of Athens and he attends the Music Composition classes of Th. Antoniou. Michalis has composed music themes for theatre plays, solo piano for small and large ensembles, songs etc. His first album was released in 2003 under the title “An everyday music”. The album consists of 12 instrumental songs for a small ensemble or for a solo instrument, and two songs are based on Costis Palamas’ poems. In 2005, Michalis was awarded in an international competition of musical composition, which took place in Volos. In the same year, the Greek Group of Contemporary Music presented one of his works in a workshop for new composers, which was directed by Th. Antoniou. His second album, released in 2006 with the title “Diosimia”, is a cooperation with the painter Miltos Pantelias an the sculptress Irini Gonou. Michalis Andronikou, either as a musician or a music director, collaborates with well-known composers and singers, in discography and in concerts in Greece and abroad.
