Yorgos Kazantzis

Yorgos Kazantzis was born and raised in Kalamaria of Thessaloniki, where he still lives and works. He started expressing his creativity with songs and later moved on to composing orchestral musical pieces for small or bigger orchestras. He has been appointed "Artistic Director" of the Cultural Organization of the Municipality of Kalamaria since March 1999. Studies: Classical guitar, piano, theory of music (Harmony, counterpoint, fugue, organology, orchestration), next to the conductor Theodoros Mimikos.

Television Music: Music for seven episodes as well as the music theme for the T.V. series "Thessaloniki tells its tales", directed by Petros Panamas, in a production by ET-3, based on the writings of local writers, (Y.Ioannou , Y. Skabardoni , H. Koutsoukou e.t.c.). Many of his theme tunes have been used as background or incidental music for TV programmes, by the 8 main broadcasting channels in Greece. Some of these programmes are: "Vera sto Dexi", "Deka lepta kirigma" MEGA Channel - "To spiti sti thalassa" ALPHA TV - and many documentaries and programmes of the three national Greek channels (ET1,NET,ET3). Also, production companies in Australia (AMCOS), Canada (SODRAC), Turkey (MESAM), France (SDRM), Yugoslavia (SOKDJ ), Israel (ACUM), Netherlands (BUMA.)Music for movies: He participates with his music for the music score of the film "Rabbit Hunt" (To kynigi tou Lagou), a film by Nikos Vezyrgiannis.He founded the music studio "Polytropon" in 1995 in Kalamaria of Thessaloniki, and still is the proud owner of it, since it now plays a lead role to the musical happenings as well as in music productions.DISCOGRAPHY:
