About Me
Petros Vagiopoulos was born in Karditsa, in 1949. He studied Mathematics at the university of Thessaloniki and had been the owner of a tutorial school in Volos for 10 years. Together with his studies, he got down to music composition.In 1979, with the lyrics of the poet Dimitris Christodoulou, he wrote 15 songs, which he presented in 1982 at Ithaka, in a festival dedicated to Theodorakis - Farantouri - Christodoulou, gathering excellent reviews.In 1983, Petros Vagiopoulos moved to Athens and since then he has been a professional music composer. Since 1985, he has worked together with Manolis Rasoulis, a talented lyricist and renovator of the greek verse in general. This cooperation resulted in the publication of 6 LP-CDs and 3 singles. Moreover, he has worked with Yiannis Logothetis (3 CDs), Lefteris Papadopoulos, Elias Katsoulis, P. Abazis, G. Kleftogiorgos, G. Vrouvas and others.More than 40 popular greek singers have contributed to his recordings: Papazoglou, Glykeria, A. Vardis, Velis, Siapanta, Opisthodromikoi, E. Vitali, Mitsias, Legaki, Karakotas, Venetsanou, Mariza Koch, Mantzios, Bassis, Paschalis Terzis, Rassoulis, Natali Rassouli, Makedonas, Peridis, Lidakis, Ksindaris, Agathonas, Tsertos, Kontogiannis, Maragozi, Imiskoumbria, Lizos, Ant. Kafetzopoulos, Gaitanos, Logo, G. Margaritis, Karelas, Ch. and P. Katsimixas, K. Veta, A. Koufoudaki and others.He and his band have given a lot of concerts throughout Greece, some of them with Manolis Rasoulis, Yiannis Logothetis and others. He has also worked as a radio and television music-programme producer for 30 years.He has two sons, Chris and Lefteris, graduates in medicine and architecture respectfully, also great composers and musicians.
