About Me

My drag queen innards and outards can't be stopped... Mariposa Social and ultimate Beast Mode took over my soul much later as gay boyz felt me up and the effects of the drinkie in hand took place. Wish I could wear wigs, zentai outfits and heels every day ;-)

Red Dress Party 2008: April 12th

I wanna be like this lady at 70! Yowza!

You Are A Lime Tree
You are intelligent, hard working, and innately successful.
You try to change what you can in life - and you accept what you can't change.
Tough on the outside, you are actually soft and relenting.
Jealous at times, you are extremely loyal and giving to those you love.
You have many talents, but you don't have enough time to use them. What's Your Celtic Horoscope?

My Interests

City walks, long talks, writers and writing, live performance, organizing queer events, gender studies, traveling, singing, clubbing, videography, digital music, making jewelry, crocheting without rules, cooking, alternative histories, truth, fellow synesthesiacs, surprises.

Thanks to Nalani for sending this nibblette of adorableness.

~Tilda Swinton~

Vavavoom!

The fabulously foppish Tilda Swinton, my favorite contemporary film actress. She's sharp as a tack and able to morph into just about any role: my favorites being her parts in Orlando, Concieving Ada, and Technolust.

GO TILDA!! Go on with your bad self and win that Oscar... and bring your young lover AND one twin son along for the ride while you're totally cool husband stays home with the other kid. FINALLY TILDA GETS SOME RECOGNITION FOR HER TALENT AND UNCONVENTIONAL LIFESTYLE/SELF--YAY!

Insightful Quotes from Ms. Swinton:

"I'm basically interested in identity, and I still find fascinating the question, 'How do we identify ourselves, and how do we settle into other people's expectations for our identity?'"

"There is something insane about a lack of doubt. Doubt, to me anyway, is what makes you human, and without doubt even the righteous lose their grip not only on reality but also on their humanity."

~TYRA BANKS~ Why I love my Tyra:

TYRA SEZ:

“Take responsibility for yourself because no one's going to take responsibility for you.”

“Black women have always been these vixens, these animalistic erotic women. Why can't we just be the sexy American girl next door?”

“I am totally against plastic surgery. A lot of people think I have breast implants because I have the biggest boobs in the business. But I was a 34C when I was 17...They stay up when I wear a push-up bra. But if people could see me when I come home and take off my bra, how could they think these are fake?”~ALAN CUMMING~

Uber fagalicious...

~FRIGID~

My Obsession...

with Montreal is partially fueled by this lovely man. Mostly I want to visit my friend Ewa, but oh, what a lovely time we would have going out to see acts like Frigid, Lezzies on X and The Eva Stones.

From what Ewa tells me, Frigid is a formally trained dancer... watch his moves in the his music video below "Bedroom Sessions"...

Music:

Rufus Wainwright makes me cry, Etta James brings a spark to my eyes, Michael Jackson makes me wanna dance, David Bowie makes me wet my pants, Neko Case is magical and lovely, Nina Simone is in the sky above me :_(, Kristen Hersh is my long-time hero, Patti Smith is a poet making rock flow, Sonic Youth reminds me of young love and sweaty summers, The Stone Roses are swirly boy music sure to soothe any bummer, The Veils are romantic and dreamy, X is raw and steamy, Chet Baker died young--we lost his art, Roy Orbison hits every note of my heart, Chopin makes pictures in my head, Debussey is great in bed, Mozart composed the finest choral masses, Jessye Norman charms the lads and the lasses...

Movies:

Suddenly Last Summer, Klute, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Nights of Caberia, La Strada,Spirited Away, Paris is Burning, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Night of the Iguana, Before Night Falls, Orlando, Wings of Desire, Technolust, Conceiving Ada...

Television:

Books:

Too many favorite books! Here are some of my favorite authors: Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Jeanette Winterson, Virginia Woolf, Milan Kundera, James Baldwin, Djuna Barnes.I also get obsessed with books that explore new insights on historical events or social issues.

Heroes:

~KRISTIN HERSH~

The first time I saw her was in a tiny bar in Seattle way back when Throwing Muses "Fat Skier" came out and 4AD's first compilation "Lonely is An Eyesore" was out around the same time--1987. The tour I saw must have been in '88 because hot damn, I was finally old enough to get into bars. There were tons of all-ages shows and venues back then, but I was bound and determined to see Throwing Muses. I met them and they were all so young and sweet... awww.
"I'm sick of the "men are people and women are women" thing. The women I know are funny and hard-working. And that is never expressed. The only real schism there is that I have a tremendous amount of respect for the traditional female role. I have a hard time with feminism's "manning" of women. I think there are plenty of wonderful manly women and plenty of wonderful womanly men. So, stop saying some of you are one gender and some of you are the other. I think that we need to respect all the roles women have played forever, in other words, and we need to do that before we can respect women at all. We shouldn't respect women who do men's jobs, because "they're more like men." They're not. There are lots of men that are not like that."--Kristin Hersh

~MARGARET CHO~

DANG...

If this lady isn't the ultimate comedian and activist I don't know who is! See ASSASSIN! IT'S TERRR-IFFIC. Plus she's completely adorable...
From Maragaret Cho's blog:
"I have learned to love that which is meant to harm me, so that I can stand in the way of those who are less strong. I can take the bullets for those who aren't able to."
"Love is the big booming beat which covers up the noise of hate."
"Politics has less to do with where you live than where your heart is."
