These are just a few of the things that have been said about Pat Chessell, a solo artist from Vancouver, BC who has made quite a name for himself on the Western Canadian music scene. Pat has opened for such acts at The Town Pants and The Brent Lee Band and has played his own shows in some of Vancouver’s hottest nightclubs such as Doolins Irish Pub, The Limerick Junction, The Roxy and many more. Heavily influenced by acts such as the Clancy Brothers, Pogues and Blue Rodeo, he has gained a strong, loyal fanbase due to his exceptional acoustic guitar playing, warm, passionate vocals and his [often downright funny] stage presence. Chessell has been gifted with the ability to make his audience – no matter where the venue might be – feel like they’re sitting in a pub on the coast of Ireland sipping on a Guinness by providing them with an eclectic mix of Celtic and Canadian folk music. He can also throw in any popular favourite for audience members, making him an ideal pub act! Pat has recorded Rainy Tuesday Morning, an original which can best be described as Celtic roots-rock. It received airplay on small market stations across British Columbia and was released on a compilation put together by JRfm DJ Byron James of his favourite local country and roots acts. The compilation featured Pat's song next to songs recorded by popular British Columbia bands such as the Cruzeros and Ken McCoy. He is currently working on completing his debut solo album with such producers as John Roles (from the band Chilliwack). Pat Chessell will spend the rest of 2007 performing in bars, clubs, festivals and showcases all over Canada.
