RUBY RED RIVER
************************************************************
****************************************************
Full of life and energy (even he doesn't know where it comes from), the artist called +Ruby Red River+ is many things to different people. Bassist, performer, DJ, dancer, designer, promoter; all he's wanted is for all to notice him in the one way no-one really knows him yet: as producer & composer. It's taken a lifetime or two, depending on who you ask, for this musical wonder to ease his way to where he is today. Take a precarious childhood plus amazing friends & family, throw the world-wide atmosphere of club culture and a sensibility to match, dress it all up as a Japanese street club kid and then you might be close to a description of thee Triple R. He has an open outlook on so many things, that sometimes he gets embarrassed at the attention he gets by just being himself, but that's part of his amazing gift to the music industry that he brings with Ruby Red District. As not only the CEO of RRD, he insisted on putting himself first, as the artist with a great background of experience, and with an almost global sense of where various indie music cultures are going. "There are almost too many great artists out there, that when I write or make a track, it's got to be something that I FEEL the need to hear on a personal level primarily... then if I can dress it up a little for the masses after that to enjoy just as much as myself hey, we got a winner!"
Ever since 1980, Ruby was actively involved in helping out his family with Peter Minshall and his Carnival presentations in Trinidad; while later becoming a lighting technician and stage hand for various dance and performance productions at the renowned Little Carib Theatre. During this he had also started being a roadie/tech with friends from his neighborhood; catering from block and beach parties to Carnival band launches and events. Then in 1990, he wanted to expand on his musical endeavors and later moved back to Toronto to play in several hard rock /metal outfits. Throughout this all, club culture was also of a great interest to him; having various jobs from go-go dancing and flyer person to lighting and bar-backing with numerous nightclubs. Finally throwing his hands up in 2000 at the lack of commitment that swamped his every effort, he chose to go solo as a DJ/promoter and then producer. He has only been looking forward ever since.
While he himself finds his songwriting processes rather simple, people who have heard his tracks have found much more within his mainly electro-techno, D&B preferences: cool noise, soundtrack-like, tech trip-hop, bass bombs, even audio theater. Musical skills aside, his appearance at any of his gigs is usually a sight for those who expect it. Either cross-dressed, in club glam wear, or for whatever shock value he chooses, +RRR+ doesn't do mundane. He is expected to complete works on his tentative EP release as RRD's debut for sometime in Fall/Winter 2007 which promises to be a short but definite nod to grander & mature things for the future.
NIHILIST PRAYER

"What amazes me is the amount of crap that bombards the media consistently; and people predictably still bitch about it without so much as offering a cough in revolt... my job as a musician is to follow that ugliness that guards things of great value and fragility and convince it to share, so the rest of the world isn't that taken aback. If it works... well that's not really my concern, what IS simply is...."
This is Nihilist Prayer's world. The world where nothing goes as smooth as planned; where only jolts and startles greet you from the darkest of corners. The explorer heading out into harsh desolation of the vast wastes, only to come back with something pretty, beautiful and undeniably real. A definitive far-cry from the years of playing in various rock/metal acts with little-to-no results, he decided to stop dealing with the limitations and shortcomings of those around him to tackle the root of his inner torment: solo sonic release. Living almost at times in subhuman conditions and trapped in a culture-less, bland and ignorant city parading as 'hip', Nihilist Prayer's aural campaigns are as much a means of life to him as an earthly creatures need to respire; inherent necessity. His music is born of more emotional response than of a need to belong or assert himself with such trivialities as 'peers'. As he states: "Making music that might only appeal to me is the only sane satisfaction I look for in a world THIS insane..."
At present of note, he had started his creative endeavors with an elaborate remix inspired by DTRASH records artist Contra's 'Ectoplasm' in 2003. This was followed by a contribution to the ambitious track '100 test channels/5 seconds that will change your life' on Hynoskull's 'dark skies over planet e' release on Ant Zen in 2004. Personal tragedies and hardships saw him barely get through the end of 2005 until almost early 2007, where he had to re-evaluate his mission for what living for him meant. He now sees his labors before him not as hurdles or walls, but as preparation time to purify and intensify his plans of sonic assaults, in direct response to what he KNOWS is life in decline. His idea of what electronic, nay... music is missing, is what he journeys now into the unknown for. Like all great art, he cradles and nourishes it until it's time to release, ready or not, to a world that shall have no choice but to behold it. RRD looks very forward to this.
