My name is Jennifer Lynn Herd. Everyone calls me Jenni. I loved life. I had such a wonderful family and great friends. I enjoyed being around people more than anything, so I made plans to go back to school to become a Physical Therapist. I had a huge heart and was truly a sweet person. Everyone I met seemed to like me instantly. People even said I lit up a room when I walked in. I had a very outgoing personality and was pretty funny too! Sadly, I got involved with the wrong person and couldn't seem to get away from him. Because of my big heart, I went back to him a couple of times because of my deep love for his beautiful son. I loved children and they loved me. I was very saddened at the idea of leaving this poor little boy behind, but I had to concentrate on my safety. I finally made the decision to leave him for good but couldn't hide from him. He always found me. He stalked me day and night. He harassed my family. He harassed my friends, my co-workers. He did exactly what the police are supposed to protect us from. But he was the police! I begged for help from his superiors. When they couldn't get him to stop, they suggested that I seek a Protective Order. I did. The judge simply stated, "Ms. Herd, Do you realize if I grant you this Protective Order today how it will affect Mr. _____ career?" I said, "I certainly do." She immediately denied my Protective Order.
