About Me

Crut as a musical entity has been in existence for 15 years. What started out as "a lo-fi audio experiment in the works" in 1992 turned into something different by the end of the 20th century. The early music went through a lot of different costumes, in fact the original concept behind Crut was that it consisted of four non-existent members, each being able to share their own personas within the music. But after exhausting that concept, the personas went away and Crut became one of the musical identities of its creator, John Book. The mixture these days is of a hip-hop/electronica variety, audio manipulation, vinyl distortion, something to think about, and something to dance to. Telling stories through samples and sounds, this is the current path of the music and it has been a wonderful journey so far.Under his own name, Book made an appearance on the Tru-Thoughts Records compilation "Shapes One".Turning off my bio mode, I am currently working on album ..21, with a single and/or EP ready to go.
