Seattle hip-hop artist Wizdom has been writing and recording since 1997. Writing rhymes in high school with friends led him to take the next step by recording what he wrote. Linking up with a crew in the late 90's and early 2000's, Deadline, was Wizdom's first exposure to performing what he had written and recorded. Realizing his love for entertaining people with his music, this next step allowed him to meet and link with other artists in the game. The love of recording music grew to the level that Wiz decided it was time to get serious and work on a professional album.
September 2005 was when the process was started with beats provided by the soon to be legendry DREAM TEAM (The Team - NYC; beats for Jae Mills, Rover, Blockburners, etc). The next step was linking with local Seattle artist Macklemore to record and mix the entire album at Macklemore studios over summer 2006. Album mastering and artwork from Issac Meek of Undercaste and Walter Franco respectivelty was finished by December 2006. Prior to the CD's release, Wizdom's singles, "Put in Work" feat. New Balance & Macklemore, "Valley of Rain" feat. New Balance, and "The Facts" feat Illite & Octane, were played on local radio stations, KUBE 93.3, KEXP 90.3, X104FM, with interviews occuring at all three studios.
In February 2007, Wizdom's first full length solo debut effort, entited, The Book of Wizdom, was released. The album features New Balance (Nate Burleson of the Seattle Seahawks), Octane & Illite (Subterraneous Records), Macklemore, Epidemmik (production), and BMC, with cuts by Risk 1 and Waystylez. March 30, 2007 the CD release party for the album was held at the Nectar Lounge in Fremont, a suburb of Seattle. Over 350 people came out to show support and watch as a new Seattle artist started to gain notarity. Articles written in The Stranger, The Seattle Times, and Sports Illustrated online, as well as reviews by John Book (of okayplayer and music for america) okayplayer.com, and Platform8470 showcased this "new" talented emcee.
Wizdom just released his sophomore release, Music: Soul of the Man with producer Epidemmik of Wash DC (beats for Akir). The album features Grynch, New Balance, Cancer Rising, Bishop-I, Thig Nat of the Physics, Ike James and Octane.
With shows done at Hot Import Nights - Seattle, Tommy's, Nectar Lounge, Chop Suey and Sunset Tavern as well as up-coming shows with local up-and-comers The Physics, people are begining to recognize Wizdom's genious. This is only the begining...
