About Me

Who would've known that the records spun in Epidemmik's childhood home would eventually become the basis for a future in beat making. Like many others, Epidemmik fell in love with hip hop in 1996 a pivotal year for the culture which boasted numerous breakthrough albums. He kept in stride with the game by copping Jay-Zs classic Reasonable Doubt and, later, adding Nas It Was Written to his growing collection. While Epi started off experimenting on the microphone, his true passion for producing was prompted by long-time friend and current artist, Sean Jay . Back in 1999 and in desperate need for a producer, Jay enlisted Epidemmik to utilize his software and begin creating beats. As the years passed, Epi became more skilled and formed a unique sound that differentiated him from other generic beat makers. With substantial influences like RZA (Wu-Tang) and Havoc (Mobb Deep), Epidemmik was able to generate an individual style that reflected his enthusiasm for pure hip hop music. Epidemmik also credits his mother, who gave him his first music software, for helping him develop and pursue his talents. Hardly a novice, Epidemmik's eight year span of hard work has laid a solid foundation for the expert sound his fans are accustomed to. The sound of Epis tracks have influences that span across the border, encompassing everything from Japanese and Korean records to Deep Soul. Recently, Epidemmik has started collecting musical instruments which have the potential of elevating his beats to an already higher level. Already, he's acquired an Ensoniq Asr-10 which he hopes to master in the near future. Following several relocations from Texas to Hawaii, Epi currently resides in Maryland where he plans to make a name for himself. When asked about his impending music career, he humbly responded, Im just doing this for the love of music. If something pops off it does, but Im gonna remain in the basement cooking up these beats. As his name implies, Epidemmik's tracks are infectious a fusion of grimy street soul that no hip hop enthusiast can resist.
