Jesus Loves You!

About Me

I am Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. My feast day is every year on March 17th. I was born in the late 4th century in western Britain in a town called Bannavem Taburniae. My name at my birth was Maewyn Succat. I died in the middle 5th century at a town called Saul in County Down, Ireland. You can learn even more about me at the Patron Saints Index or at this biography page .
One time a Welsh chieftain kidnapped some of the members of the Irish church and I was very angry, so I wrote my Letter To The Soldiers of Coroticus .
In my later years, I wrote my Confession in which I explained and defended my ministry. I was born to noble parents in Roman Britain and raised as a believing Christian. My father was a deacon and my grandfather was a priest. But in my youth I never paid much attention to spiritual things. Then one day, some Irish raiders came along and kidnapped me. I was made a slave and forced to tend sheep up on a mountain in the Irish wilderness. In my solitude, I began to have conversations with God! He let me know that I was precious to him. I would pray day and night, always conversing with the Almighty. Soon, the Lord let me know that it was time for me to escape from slavery and start doing his work. So, I left and travelled for several days until I reached a seaport. When I arrived, I tried to book passage on an outgoing vessel, but the captain said that they had no more room on the boat. I prayed and then miraculously, the captain of the vessel had a change of heart. I heard the sailors calling for me to get on board. We crossed over from Ireland and landed in Gaul. We had to travel through a great wilderness so that the sailors could trade the goods that they had brought from Ireland. On our journeys, we had many adventures.
One time the men were all starving and wishing they were dead. I had let them know that I was a believer in Jesus, so they challenged me to pray to God for food. So, I did, and the Lord graciously sent a herd of wild pigs for us to eat. The men were filled with both tasty pork and new found faith in my God. I was anxious to make my way home to Britain to be with my family, but knew that God had a greater purpose for my life. So, I became a priest and a monk and learned all I could from the learned brothers in Gaul. Eventually I made my way home and was received with great rejoicing by my family.
I was happily serving God and His people in Britain for a while. But then, I started having strange visions. In these visions I could see the people of Ireland begging me to come to their country and teach them about my God. I wanted to do this and tried to become a missionary to them, but another man was chosen by the church leaders for this important mission. I was heartbroken. But then, unfortunately, the brother who was a missionary to the Irish died suddenly. I was finally getting my chance to go to Ireland!
I went back to Ireland, but this time, not as a slave of men, but as the servant of the LORD. While spreading the good news about Jesus in Ireland, there was much resistance from the established religious group there, the Druids. I made friends with both Kings and commoners and slowly but surely taught the people about the gospel message. I had many powerful spritual encounters with the Druids and their false gods. Through me, the Lord showed his power by performing many miracles. Eventually, the gospel spread throughout all of Ireland. It was now a Christian nation. God's blessing was on me to use me in such a wonderful way! I became the first bishop of Ireland, and that great nation's patron saint. Upon my death the entire nation mourned, and ever since then, on March 17th, the Irish around the world celebrate the good things God did through me.
In my time on Myspace, many people have asked me to be the patron saint of their cause or group, and I am very excited to have more opportunities to share the love of Jesus with as many people as possible!
