Pursuit of a career in the entertainment industry has been an aspiration since Ah'yae was about 6 or 7 years old. Born and raised in New York, provided access to the industry. Performances in talent shows and club scenes, led to exposure.
Background vocals was performed on the 1984 release, "Hey DJ", by " The World's Famous Supreme Team " (Top 12 on the Billboard Charts),on Charisma Records ,and then later released, on Island Records. However, there was still more dues to pay. Most efforts was spent auditioning and working in and outside of the studio, hanging out with and around singers, musicians and the like, looking for that real break. Patrick Adams, Black Ivory, Bunny Siegler of the Philadelphia Sound, Grover Washington Jr., Eddie Murphy, Whodini, Eric B. & Rakim, Prince Paul, De La Soul, Q-Tip,and William Dubose were among many contacts. In 1988, printwork became another avenue with the publication of a headshot in Black Elegance magazine, Vol. 014, pg. 40. In 1989, a non-union 60 second commercial, on cable TV, lent some exposure to the big screen. Then in 1991, yet another release, "Talkin Bout Hey Love", by" De La Soul" on Tommy Boy Records. After a 11 year hiatus, In 2002, a performance in a off broadway gospel musical entitled, "Don't Let The Devil Ride" by Ralphine & James Child, sparked the fire.
And with the upcoming remix of "Hey DJ" in 2008, the fire has been rekindled, so stay tuned for more to come with The World Famous Supreme Team, and Ah'yae.
