About Me

I created X-Yoga for those who want to add a little kick-butt power to their yoga practice. My new DVD has just been released!
Click HERE to check it out.

"I must learn to love the fool in me -- the one who feels too much, talks too much, takes too many chances, wins sometimes and loses often, loses self control, loves and hates, hurts and gets hurt, promises and breaks promises, laughs and cries. It alone protects me against that utterly self-controlled, masterful tyrant whom I also harbor, and who would rob me of human aliveness, humility, and dignity but for my fool."

My Interests

One of my passions is travel -- I always have a bag packed and can be at the airport ready to go practically anywhere with an hour's notice. I'm also passionate about movement -- skiing, scuba diving, being a gym rat, and of course, X-Yoga. Dipping a timid toe into bellydance. Closet chef -- creating with my sautee pan (secret crush on Tyler Florence). Garden art. Mind, Body & Pole. Obsessive shoe collector. Okay -- it's borderline festishist. Slave to fashion. Vin Fatale. Alcolete. Zoo Diver.

I'd like to meet:

JD Salinger, Lynda Barry, James McNeill Whistler, Oscar Wilde, Franz Lizst, Dorothy Parker. Oh, and Manolo Blahnik. I would beg him for shoes.

Music:

Ambient electronic alternative stuff that lets me float away -- Moby, Massive Attack, Fauxliage, Sigur Ros, Evanescence, Sirconical, Rob Dougan, and Amethystium. I'm also a huge fan of industrial rock, especially NIN, Filter, Stabbing Westward, and X-Fusion. I play a lot of Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, and Coldplay in my classes.

Movies:

I see about one movie every two years because I can't sit still that long.

Television:

Not so much.

Books:

Where do I start? Anything and everything by JD Salinger, David Sedaris, Wally Lamb, Vladimir Nabokov, and Ellen Gilchrist. One of the most chilling and provocative books I have read in years is "We Need to Talk About Kevin" by Lionel Shriver. I am obsessed with brilliant humorous illustrators like Edward Gorey and Lynda Barry. Love you, Marlys!
